I'm looking into the possibility of my stomach having delayed emptying times, all the symptoms seem to fit. However a manometry scan and barium swallow have been done in the past and nothing was ever mentioned. Is it possible for these tests to miss something like that where an isotope meal would catch it? I need to know if I'm barking up the wrong tree here.

Closetfire, if you are feeling full quickly and you feel that things aren't moving, then you might really have gastroparesis.  The tests you had done don't check for that.  You would have to take the test for gastroparesis, taking the radioactive egg.  All you have to do is ask your doctor and he/she will let you take it.  I think you definitely should take it, then you'll know for sure!

My PCP is the one who told me to get it done.  Mine came out negative (although I have other motility problems).

It is a very simple, pain-free test.  You just eat an egg and then lie down for a while. 

Let me know how it turns out.

How are your motility probs being treated? Do you have a handle on it?

Btw, how much did the test cost you? Before insurance? I'm uninsured and unemployed, but I do get some assistance because it's a 7th day adventist hospital so they have some charity service, but I am curious.

I'm sorry, but I got the gastroparesis test done with my insurance.  I'm not sure how much it costs. 

I have gone to a homeopathic doctor who doesn't take my insurance so I know what it's like to pay on my own without insurance.

My motility problems are still not under control.  But, don't worry, yours are probably not as bad as mine.  Mine are in my gut AND in my esophagus (both). 

I was inactive, starving, and stressed for over a year.  That is how I ended up with all of this.

I'd call to find out how much the gastroparesis test would cost before doing it.

Good luck.  BTW, would it be possible for you to still get insurance?

I've actually been dealing with reflux pain for about a year myself, my voice gets burned often so bad that I can't speak for several days if I want it to heal. That makes phone calls absolute hell. A year and a half ago I weighed about 20 pounds more than I do now. I just hope its not gastroparesis as I'm reading that there's not much that can be done about it. It's scary.

As for insurance, I'm unemployed and being supported financially by family who live out of state. I live with my boyfriend who is also unemployed but going through school and have been trying to get on disability for my bipolar/ocd/depression for almost 2 years now. I'm supposed to get a hearing in court by the end of the year, but who knows if that works out or not.

I should note that I'm not vomiting, can you have GP without vomiting? Every case I seem to read about mentions it. I'm hoping that means it's not GP, but I don't know what to think anymore.
