Probiotics cause acid reflux!

  I posted to you earlier today, but for some reason it isnt appearing on this trhead.

I do not know if I have a motility problem, but I think I do know how you are feeling.

I am sooo sick of feeling like this.  This disease is consuming my life.  I am so tired of feeling sick, I want my life back, but I dont know if that is possible.

  I have had gerds for at least a year now.  I also have esophageal spasms and throat spasms.  I also have that lump in throat feeling and I feel like im strangling sometimes.  about a month ago, i developeed a new symptom and that is that my swallowing reflex isnt working properly.  I have been on protonix for a year, with some satisfaction, but not completely.  After the swallowing symptoms occured i went to dr and she sent me for barrium upper gi which came back as full reflex, including upper sphincter and lower sphincter, ,gastritis and hiatal hernia.  She put me on zoloft for anxixety and now im on nexium, which i havent noticed any change with that med at all so far.  I still have some swallowing prolems although it susided for awhile, but it seems to be back again.  Dr said it from the acid affecting the tissues in my throat.  It freaks me out like u wouldnt believe when it happens, and now Im afraqid to even attempt to eat.  My ears are plugged alot too...Such strange symptoms sometimes, but they all are quite scarey..and cause me such anxiety.  I was so afraid i had a tumor and that is why i couldnt swallow, but the upper gi proved that to be wong, thank god...Yet, still when it happens, i do freak out.  Which in turn makes me more anxious and doesnt help my condition at all...Anyways, i know uve gone thru alot too, and just waanted to touch base with you...misery loves company and all!  Thanx for listening,

  I cant eat...Funny, I never realized how "social" eatting was.  Its not just for nourishment.

I am trying to relax, but the swallowng problem causes me a great deal of stress...and then the stress causes my condition to get worse.  Its a vicious circle.

  I have to hope that somehow I will heal, and then the swelling in my throat will go down and then Ill be able to swallow again...Thats my hope anyways.

  Everything I have read about LPR, suggests taking 2 doses of ppi, but my doctor doesnt think that is necessary, so I am on nexium one time a day.  I dont agree with her, and would love to double the dosage, however, my insurance wont pay for the nexium, and she gave me a one months supply, so if i would double up on it, Ill be done before my month is up!

  I do have some protonix left, I wonder if i could take the protonix once a day and the nexium once a day, or if it wouldnt be a good idea to mix them.

  Thanx for your post and suggestions.  I have tried the dgl licorice, and it does help somewhat wth the heartburn, however, both my upper esophageal sphincter and lower esophageal sphincter does not work properly, and it is always leaking up into my esophagus and my throat area.  I may give it another try though.  At this point, I dont have anything to lose.
