stomach buring hot to the touch

Hi im new here.iv had gerds for over  three years and have had the buring before.about a year ago .put a cold rag over it and cooled it down.now its back .every day for two months my stomach has been buring not 24 hours 12 hours or more.i was taking darcocett for back pain.and im sure thats when it started every time i would take a pill my stomach would burn and after a coupl of hours it would go away.so two months ago was eating out and started getting sick went home stomach started buring and pains in my stomach .put a cold rag on it and i was up all night till about 4 in the morning it started to cool down.then i fell asleep and was up again with it biurning.from my waist line to my chest almost hot enough to fry an egg on.i stopped taking the davocett two months ago .so i dont know if the darvocett burned a hole in my stomach or the gerds acting up im 55 year old white male 5-8 w185 i was pretty active till this now all i can do is drink ice cold water sit on the couch with a cold towel mostly at night it gets hotter.i stay away from fryed foods i eat fruit. chicken breast. chicken sandwitches any one here have this .if you could leave me a reply id be so great full thanks.Rick

Hi Rick, and welcome to healingwell. Am I correct in assuming that you are saying your stomach is hot to the touch? Like, the outside of your stomach? If that's what it is, I am sorry, I don't have an answer for you, as I have never heard of that. Can I suggest you call your doctor as soon as possible, and express this problem to him? Please, keep us posted on what happens with you. I wish you all the best!

yes i have seen several doctors about my stomach being hot.they dont know either .they all say have your gallbladder checked .iv been in the forum on gallbladders and the signs arent there.nobody thats had gallblader problems has this kind of hot heat coming from there stomach.ill keep you informed on my next test.thanks .Rick

Rick, I am sorry you are going through this. It must be frustrating to not know what's going on with your body, and for doctors to not know either. I truly hope you are able to get some answers soon. I look forward to hearing from you soon! I have looked up possible causes for this, and unfortunetly, have come up with nothing. Do you have any doctor appointments set up? You just have me simply baffled! I truly hope you get some relief soon! Wishing you all the best!

yes i have a dr.appointment 10-22-07 its either mri or a ct scan .my doctor wants to rule out ms.he says that i have signs of ms . iv read alot on ms on the enternet and i dont see anything that shows signs i just have some stomach pains and i take tramadol 50 mg for that and the burning down to my knees up to my chest and around to my back.some times i can go for two days and my stomach is normal then i eat. then it flares up again.so i put a cold rag on my stomach from 10 pm to 4 am then it cools down .so i can sleep then when i wake up in a couple of hours my stomach is on fire again.no im not giving up on this .i just had a upper gi yesterday.doctor says everthing looks normal.and he took a biopsies ill find out next week what the results are.i will let you know after the ct scan 22nd and thanks again for your concern.Rick

Hi Rick. Glad to hear from you again. I am also happy you have an upcoming appointment, and I am in hopes that you will finally get some answers. Hello Rick and Welcome to Healing Well,

Tramadol 50 mg, this is a medication very similar to Morphine. As I do not know what else you are taking it is hard to advise you other than to encourage you to follow up with the physician and let your Doctor do the tests needed to rule out the physical causes of your "hot belly".  Please do not get wrapped up in all the info on the internet as each person is different and we all react differently to meds and diseases.

You did not list any meds that you are taking for GERD. Are you on anything else besides the pain meds you mentioned?

i am takeing 2 nexium 40 mg in the morning and two before i go to bed.and vytorin 10/20 for colesteral my colesteral is fine under one hundered thats good i was taking 650/100 darvocett for my back i have three disc bad so i stop taking the darvocett cause it was hard on my stomach i stop the darvocett three months ago.Rick

Hi Rick:  I have never heard of anyone taking 160 mg of Nexium in a day.  Perhaps, this is what is contributing to that "hot feeling" in your stomach.  I think the most people take would be 80 mg. of Nexium in a day.  When I took Nexium 80 mg. a day for several months my stomach felt sort of weird, it didn't feel hot on the outside but when I would expel my breath it sort of felt like it my breath was hot (hope it makes sense).  Unfortunately, this is the only thing I can think of.

iv had this buring around my stomach for 10 to 12 week snow my doctor ordered me prilosec 30 mg 2 times a day this was 1 week after my stomach started burning and that was not working so he started me on nexium 40 mg 1 in the morning and 1 at night and i called the doctor and told him that the nexium was not working .so he said take 2 in the morning and 2 at night .so i called my primary doctor up and told him what the stomach doctor said about taking 4 nexium a day and he agreed and said yes that people that have that much acide in there system need to .and i also talked to my pharmist and he said that was fine .i even thought that was too much but im just going by what my doctor says .there are some days i only take 1 a day but if its bad day i take 4 aday so yes iv had the burning before i took the acide pills.so i dont know either whats wrong i hope i will find out soon .and its wierd that nobody has ever had this before not that i know of or the doctors.Rick

had my upper gi done and biopsy.everything is normal so now he has ordered a ct scan and i will see what that tells me.and then i have another appointment with a nuro doctor to see if i have some nerve damage.ill get back to you and let you know.Rick

Welcome to the forum, Rick.  Please keep us posted. Hopefully, they will find out what is going on real soon.  I have never heard of anyone taking 160 mg. of Nexium either.  That and the pain medication could be causing some real problems with your esophagus.  Let's hope it's something that simple.  We'll be thinking about you.

the doctors office called me wednesday and ask how i was doing with the nexium and i said fine .the nurse said the doctor only wanted me on them for two weeks.and go back to two pills aday so im glad they called she didnt tell me that two weeks ago i dont know if the pharmacy told them when i called to get a refill and told thats to much for me to be taking but im back to two and i feel the same .i dont know if taking more more got rid of the acid in my stomach or what i will let you know when my test are complete.here in on week everything should be back.and i have not had any problems with my acid reflux and burning .for over a week now i hope i stay that way.and can get off these meds for good.i can only pray.and thanks for your replys all of you on this forum are super people to talk too.and may all of you have a great day now and forever.Rick
