How many members are here? Ideas on GERD/LPR cause

Hello,

I'm not sure if I have LPR, GERD, or both, but in any case, it's on the verge of doing me in.  At age 41, with little ones to raise, this is really becoming more of a mental battle than I can handle.

Anyway, I'd like to know how many members approximately, are on this GERD board?  Anyone know? 

Reason I ask, is because I've spent the past 6 months doing little more than reading GERD research reports on pubmed and the full text versions on the university on line library, and I've got a feel for what the researchers know and don't know.  And now I want to find out if it's conceivable to determine the cause of GERD via the chat board.  Depending on how many participants, maybe we could do a study of our own.  I can't sleep at night, even on my inclined bed.  I need to find the reason for why GERD is so prevalent, and I'm not content with waiting for the researchers, nor am I up for a fundo.

Does anyone else feel like I do?

Hey there Mark...and welcome to healingwell. I am glad you have found this forum, as it is a great place for information and support!!! There is no real way to tell how many people are on this board, as new people come here daily. If I had to guess on our regular members, I'd say less than 20, but they are amazing people who tend to post daily. And, like I said, there are new people joining daily! What, can I ask are you doing, besides inclined bed, to deal with your symptoms? Are you on medications? Do you watch your diet? Do you smoke? Do you drink alcohol, or carbonated beverages? Have you been to a GI? The reason I ask all of the above questions is to get to know you better. If there is something you are not doing, but should be...then, maybe we could help you in that way. Please look at the post WAYS TO MINIMIZE GERD SYMPTOMS...there is some really useful information in there. Please, stick with us. Keep posting...and if you have the time, read old posts, they hold a lot of information. Again, welcome aboard!
