Is acid reflux causing me heart problems?

Even though I was told for the last 11 years that my palpitations were a mystery I have now concluded that the sweeling in my esophogus, caused by the acid spilling in to it due to my hiatal herbia, has been the cause for my palps. Like you, I used to not get the burning sensation or heart burn. Just palps. Its a horrible feeling if you have them for months at a time.  

See a GI specialist if you have'nt yet. They will most likely tell you that the palps are not related, but they are. Get a scope done to see if you have erosive esophogitis which is what I have.

Come the 10th of August I will put the palps and the burning to rest as that is the day I will have my Lap. Nis. Fund. surgery

To Rafael, Good luck, I just posted for the first time.  I had the procedure on the 22 of July.  All went well.  I had a very thorough surgeon in the Modesto area.  Another surgeon wanted to do it as an open chest rather than Lap and I am so glad /I too had palpitations and am anxious to see if this will put a stop to them.My stomach was crowding the area so I think they were connected too.  ALso had them when pregnant many decades ago.  So I think there may be a  relationship.  I hope your surgery goes well.  IT is a rather uncommon surgery so lots of conflicting info out there, but I think Your dr can put your mind at ease. I fortunately had very few symptoms but acid damage eventhough the symptoms weren't there.  I really feel for those people who have the painful reflux.  Good luck and good healing to all who are getting ready to undergo the surgery.
