Hi all! I posted an introduction in the New Members thread. I'm happy to have found this website.
I had my endoscopy last week and it went well. The doc passed a dialator through, hoping that this would ease my symptoms. I think he was expecting to find a stricture but didn't see any. While I'm delighted that there was no damage to my esophagus, I feel like I've hit a brick wall. I was told to wait for a few weeks and if my symptoms persist, he will do a stomach emptying test. He thinks that it's a functional problem with my esophagus/stomach, which is possible since I have IBS. Meanwhile, I'm still suffering from constant reflux and sore throat.
Something I've been discussing with my husband is the fact that the dr seemed to focus on the dysphagia, which I sometimes experience, rather than the refulx and sore throat, which is almost constant. Maybe this is because of the IBS.
How long do you have to suffer from heartburn before esophageal damage is visible?
So now I'm just waiting to see if there is any improvement, although there isn't so far. I guess that's all I can do.
