Anne,
Thank you for understanding. As you stated simple lifestyle alterations and medications are effective. I sleep on my left side as studies have shown that reflux was most severe when patients were on their right side.
It is not always easy to maintain the lifestyle changes but we do the best we can and you are living proof that this method of treatment does work.
I am glad the PPI medication works well for you most of the time. A single daily dose of a PPI suppresses gastric acid production almost completely and promotes healing of damaged tissue.
It is a rough deal that you cannot have the surgery if you need it. Is there any other treatment that does not require open surgery?
Know that I understand the pain and reflux of GERD is truly not a good deal and I am proud of you for handling your GERD in the best way you can under your conditions. You have been your own best advocate in this war on GERD so keep it up as you are holding the line at this point.
My prayers are offered for you to stay well and do come here and get the latest info and contribute as you have been. You are part of the family of HW and we are huge. Over 60,000 registered members.
Take care and gentle hugs,
Kitt
