Dear everybody and Skitt,
I have been looking for the topic associated with chronic burping/belching, however i found that there are not a lot of it and it doesn't really help me much.
I'm a 30 year old male who had the first GERD attack 8 years ago.I ate a lot that night and in the middle of the night, I feel my stomach was so bloated that i vomitted the content in my stomach. The acid also went up into my lungs that caused me to unable to breath for at least 5 seconds. It was a scary experience for me and i have been very careful on my food since then. Until now, I was quite well controlled with Zantac (Ranitidine) eventhough i took it on and off.
All these while, I have heartburn on and off. Usually, I will let go a harsh burp/belch before feeling the heartburn. I DON'T GET HEARTBURN BEFORE BURPING FIRST. So, what i do is if i feel the heartburn, I will quickly take some antacids to resolve it.
However, my symptoms change for the worse as recent as 2 years ago when I started to belch non stop everyday. I would say that I belch 2-3 times in 5 minutes. This very frightening and embarrassing at the same time because people think that something is very wrong with me. To make things worse, especially after a long and harsh belching, i feel very painful heartburn on my chest.
Just last month, I braved myself for an endoscopy and my gastro doc finds nothing wrong except for a grade B erosive easophagus. He prescribed me with controloc 20mg (Pantoprazole) and it sure stop me heartburn. BUT, IT NEVER STOP MY BELCHING!. I went back to my gastro and he told me that my belching is due to excessive gas which comes from the acid. He gave me some liquid antacids to get rid of my acid.
Now, my rationale is, I have taken PPI to reduce my acid, yet I still keep on belching. Am I wrong to point out that my BELCHING is not caused by acidity in my stomach?
When I stop my PPI, the heartburn comes back again after another episode of harsh belching. So, I seriously think that IF I COULD STOP MY BELCHING PROBLEM, I STOP MY HEARTBURN ONCE AND FOR ALL. But how?
I would be very grateful if someone, especially who faces the same problem like me, can give me some valuable feedback.
I have been fighting this problem for the last two years but cannot solve it. And I want to get rid of my problem once and for all.
Thanks...
Yours sincerely
