Hi Gerd Girl.
You have every right to be nervous after all it is a surgery and after the surgery you need to be careful what you eat.
The biggest thing I can stress to you is chew chew chew and go slow when your eating. You will want to start out with soft, pureed, or liquid things. Soups, scrambled eggs, baby food, yogurt and such. My doctor puts it this way, anything you can put in your hand and it would run through or if you made a fist it would squish through with out a problem is pretty much good.
While I was able to eat mashed taters another fellow post op guy was not able to eat them. I think it is so different for each person so it's going to be trial and error for you as well. If something seems to be getting stuck, stop eating, don't panic and take small sips of liquid to help it go down. Thats how I deal with it.
Just use your good sense and take it slow and easy. Your body will tell you whats right and wrong. You will be surprised how things will come along just fine and before you know it you will be back to eating pretty much normal but WITHOUT all the gerd issues
Keep us posted. Take care, Teala
