Nexium - Weening off after Nissen

Is anyone either on Nexium now or was on it pre-nissen surgery? I have been on Nexium for 3 years now and my Doctor told me I can start weening off of it now that i've had the surgery.

I've been taking every day since the surgery, except for today. No reflux/heartburn today but i usually didnt get any until the 2nd day that i didnt take it.

How have people done with getting off their Reflux/Heartburn scripts?

When I saw my surgeon 2 week post op, he wanted to get me off nexium. He perscribed me pepcid to slowly get me off meds because if you quit nexium cold turkey you stomach will overproduce acid as a reaction. After being on the pepcid for a few days my acid was really bad so I called his office and they told me to continue taking the nexium. I see my surgeon again today and I assume he will try to get me off the nexium again.
