Lump feeling post op

Hi

I am about 9 weeks post op fundoplication....I still have the lump (swollen throat) feeling that I had before the surgery - Can anyone tell me how long this lasts - I have heard that it is one of the last symptoms to leave? Otherwise everything else is going great post op.

Be patient and give your body time to heal. For some people, it cant take up a 6 months before they start feel a 100%. Remember your digestive system has been a bit rearranged, so give it time

I am scheduled for the nissan on may 7th.-I'm worried about my recovery.how long did it take u to eat regular food.

Beareilly...It took me about a month to be able to get back to eating most things - I still have to be careful with some bread products but overall it wasn't too bad. I lost about 8lbs - I could have lost a lot more but I was really trying not to lose anything, I tried to eat or drink something every 2 hours even when I wasn't hungry. This surgery overall has been fairly easy in the recovery process, the first week was definitely hard but after that each day got better.

Teala - thank you for you comments....its good to have a time frame for when I can expect to have the lump feeling go away...I am not sure if it is related to my wrap being too tight - its the same lump feeling I have had before the surgery - its kind of in my throat area not the lower esophogus where the wrap is? If I don't see any change in the next couple of weeks I will definitely go see my surgeon - I wonder if its possible for your esophogus to narrow a bit from the acid damage?

I was given tylenol 3 to take - I took it for the first few days then I felt I could manage. I would say the shoulder pain for me was pretty painful - it is also very hard to get out of bed the first week too. I found a heating pad was very helpful (or hot water bottle), I have a big heating pad that I would spread out on my pillow so that it covered my shoulders - that helped me sleep better. The bloating for me wasn't bad, I was able to do little burps right away so that may have made a difference.

I would say the worst part of the whole surgery was having the nose tube in when I woke up - I had to have it for the first night and it made me gage and dry heave a bit - which really worried me as vomiting is a bad thing! A lot of people don't seem to need that nose tube but for some reason my dr. wanted it?

If you have any more questions feel free to ask - when I was researching this surgery I found a good thread on here that was extremely helpful, I can't remember what it is called.
