Long story short:
In Nov of last year I had to be rushed to the hospital because I could not breath. I had walking pnemonia and did not know it. I spent three weeks in ICU sedated and had to be intabated three times. Lungs clear now but, now it has been six months and I have had nothing but, terror from a damaged trache and voicebox. I have had 5 balloon dilations to try and keep my trache open but, within a couple of weeks it starts narrowing again. I am taking 3 nexium a day for acid reflux so my voice box will heal. My throat feels like it is full of mucus all the time if I dont take some kind of allergy medicine. My doctor is talking about doing surgery on my trache. It involves cutting the bad piece out and sewing it back up. I am scared to death to have it done, but, I cannot keep going back to OSU every two weeks either. I did not know where to put this thread. I hope this is the right place. Have any of you heard of this problem? If so please fill me in.....thankx Sweetie119
