Dear Texas, welcome and I'm sorry you're having problems. My surgery was last summer, so some of the more recent folks may be able to help you more than I. It is not unusual to have what ever I ate and sometimes drank, come back up; I've compared it to a hairball, but in essence I've likened it to a coin sleeve..you know the kind where you put the nickels dimes or pennies in? Dimes were the worst, you put them in and then suddenly, one goes in crooked and then they all go in wrong? The only thing you can do is take them all out and start again...same with food and drink, except that the body does it for you.
I hope that Denise and Bea chime in here, because I'd really like their opinion, but here's what I'd like you to do; before you eat anything, I would like you to drink (sip) very hot water or tea. This seems to relax the LES and allows the food to go through. I'd also like you to back off your diet a bit, go back to things that are a little less solid and start at your basics again. This surgery is major stuff and it is a difficult recovery. Eating to much to soon (unless you're Bea) really agitates and inflames your esophagus, which is already angry at what you just had done to it.
If after a few days this doesn't help, then you probably need to call your Dr. In my case, I kept getting much worse and became so dehydrated; I ended up having an emergency scope and dilation...lets avoid that with you, okay?!!!
Please stay with us, let us know what is going on and we will try our best to help you out.
Janice
