Hello everyone.  It's so good to see that there are others out there w/ this crazy stuff!!  I was just diagnosed w/ GERD last Thursday after experiencing heartburn, wavy stomach, stomach pain and a very, very full feeling.  I had a gall bladder ultrasound at the time I was diagnosed as they thought I may have had gall stones (negative).  I was prescribed Protoxin and have received relief for the heartburn but my stomach is still feeling very full and I'm still not hungry (crackers, a little chicken and ginger ale are my friends).  Is this normal?  I've never experienced any kind of stomach problems and am kind of scared I have to admit.   Thanks for any help!  Suzanne

Yup, It is very normal to feel full even after one cracker.Thats how I knew I had a problem however I waited becuz I loved the thought of losing weight for one and I cant stand doctors although I love them :) Have they done and EGD? If you read other postings you will see everyones story or stories.We have a really good team here, Kitt is the owner (moderator) of the team,Denise is the captain, Bill is our quaterback (Eli) and Janice, teala ,marie, barb,michelle ,rick etc are all on the front line .lol Im a giant fan as you can see.

Hello and welcome to HealingWell.  There is a sticky post at the very top of this forum, G.E.R.D. Do I have it? You may find some answers in the sticky to some questions you have.

Bea is wise and has a long history of dealing with GERD so I think she has given you great input.

GERD is a very common problem with around one-quarter of the population in the U.S. suffering from it. You're not alone and thankfully there are lots of medications that can help. Sometimes it takes a little while for some of these meds to take full effect and get you to feeling better. Good luck and keep us posted.

What is an EGD and would a gasto. doc need to perform this?

Good Morning

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with biopsy, also known as upper endoscopy, is a procedure usually performed by a gastroenterologist (GI or intestinal doctor). This test involves passing an endoscope, a long, flexible black tube with a light and video camera on one end, through the mouth to examine the esophagus, stomach and the first part of the small intestine called the duodenum.
