Hi All~
Haven't been here for a while, wanted to give an update and ask a question... After 4 GI dr's an ENT and a surgeon, I am still kind of in the same place as before. This time they (the dr's) say I have LPR. I have done a lot of reading and found not much other than medications that will help. (I read all the article you you posted before Kitt, and they were helpful)
I have had a BRAVO test(27.2 the first day and 31 the second for my de meester score) , 24 hour pH (112 episodes) and upper GI. All show reflux, but because I do not respond to PPI's they don't know where to go. So, they have diagnosed me with LPR and are having me take Zantac (an h2 blocker) for 4 months and see where I stand.
I did learn that some people have a genetic problem with their proton pumps in the stomach, and that they do not respond to a PPI... which is what they think was the case with me. Hence, the h2 blockers.
I asked at my appt yesterday with some hot-shot GI dr if my LES works properly, and my manometry came back normal, why do i have SO much reflux and regergitation that goes along with it... she had no answer. I asked if we should repeat the manometry test (yes, I am willing to do it again) while I am upright(last time I was laying down with my head up a little) to see if that would have any difference on the LES function results, she said no.
My question... has anyone had the wrap done who suffered primarily with LPR and GERD? I am of course willing to do the Zantac for 4 months to see if that will help. I am wondering if this surgery will even help me. I know not everyone here has LPR but thought I would ask to see. Any thoughts on this...
Thanks, I appreciate any input as always :)
