Hi Barb,
My husband had hand surgery--the area where the hand meets the wrist--they actually had to take some of the bones out because they had degenerated. He went to PT afterwards--with a therapist that specializes in hands. I asked my PT (I really like him) if he could do the PT, and he said absolutely not--it has to be done by a hand specialist.

We just stopped working on cleaning out closets, etc.--worked about 3 hours after dinner. I'm sending bags and bags to goodwill. Wow, did we ever collect a lot of stuff! We're also having someone come in to do a house sale after the house sells. Until then, we're going to have to store a bunch of stuff in our garage. Our realtor said that it's okay to do...people expect stuff in the garage when they're going to move. Wish us luck. We're going to try to get the house on the market by the second week in August. YIKES. We'll see.

Denise that's what we need to do with our house. We have way too much junk we don't use. Well I better get ready for bed as my meds are starting to kick in. My surgery was definiely needed according to what the doctor told my husband. I'm surprized the hand functioned at all.

Hey Bill, I got about 2 hours of sleep as this itching is relentless. The benedryl did nothing for it. I have an awful feeling I am allergic to the orange stuff they left allover my arm. I got all of it off my fingers and upper arm with wipes but of course I can't get down inside my splint. I am going to have to call as soon as they open. Leave it to me to have some weird problem. Well I am going to go attempt a shower with the long cattle birthing glove on my bum hand. Barb

Seems like you and Bill were buring the midnight oil last night.

Sorry to hear about your itching problem from the suspected Betadine.  I hope you have talked with the Doctor's office.  If the betadine is under your dressing that does make it difficult to get to.  I have to admire your great atttitude kiddo, you just take the next problem in stride and keep on moving.

I am sure you will be very happy when your project is done and you can relax in your new home.  I know how much stuff one can accumulate.........ugh! I still envy you your townhome.................that is I am jealous but happy for you.

PAlady they changed it today and gave me a smaller brace which I don't think was wise since my hand hurts more with out the extra support for my fingers. They did not get all that betadine off either as it was driving me nuts so I pulled most of it off an used wipes and there was the tell tale orange color on the wipes. I may have to go to the walk in clinic tomorrow and have them get it all off and redress it or give me something stronger for the itching. I have about a 1 &1/2 inch cut in th palm of my hand with stitches in it. Hi Denise, to end my day I went for my 6 month check with the lung doctor. When he asked the last time I took my rescue inhaler I had to tell him about the funeral and then he asked if my friend was young and I said I thought 46 was too young and boy I just about started crying. The doc also told me I looked different so I told him yes I had lost 25 since last year and he said it really showed in my face as soon as  he looked at me. He asked how I did it and asked if I had a goal weight in mind. I told him at this point my goal is to be under 200 by next year so that would be another 25. He seemed to think that was good. He asked about my stomach and said maybe I should go to Madison or Mayo clinic for it. I told him I had already told the stomach doctor no to that. He asked why and I said I just didn't have the time to take off of work for that because as it was I was using vacation for my hand surgery. He said my lungs sound awesome. So that was good news. And I don't have to go back for a year now unless I have problems. He thought the pics of my grandkids on my hand bag were really cute. I went to the gift shop after my appointment and treated myself to a couple of bracelets and a really pretty name tag holder to replace the really ugly blue strap they gave me at work for mine. Well I'm going to go lay down while my hand isn't itching yet again. Barb

Hi Denise, that is so true about our stomachs. He just seems to think something is terribly wrong since I have such problems and the PH study was negative. Just like a doctor to want to an explaination for every thing. I am just finally happy to have it under control. The stomach doc wanted to send me to one of those places for the swallowing thing and a redo that I don't think I need any way. I was already told a redo could mean more acid and l do not need that. It's not any where to the point of where Bill's was. I have my way of dealing and it works for me so far. I'm just happy to finally have things under control with my stomach so why bother it. No more doctors Please! I sure had a nice nap, but the itching is pretty bad again so I think I will try to clean some more off with wipes and take some more benedryl along with my other meds. I need a snack too as I had no lunch today with the wacky schedule I had with the vet, 2 doctors and and out of town trip to pick up some donated brats from a local meat plant for our brat fry next week. If I get tired after my snack I think I will just sit in my recliner and nap until I can lay down again. Barb

Hi Kitt, I think I got all the dreaded orange stuff off.   If it's any thing like my adhesive allergy it will still itch for a week or so. I thought about using a cream but don't know if the doctor would like me putting something on there like that. I suppose I could stay away from the actual incision. Most of the itching is on the back side of my arm and hand and on the other side it is up past my wrist. The benedryl kicked in again so the itching has stopped for now. Now I understand why the benedryl was so important to Bill. I can't even imagine what he went through with itching all over. Just my hand and arm was driving me crazy. I'll try the cream when it wheres off. I am also going to get some new gauze to wrap it as there maybe some of the dreaded orange residue on the gauze.

Yes that was such good news to get from the lung doctor and that on top of the good report from the heart doc. Now if we get the hand thing and tailbone issue resolved I'll be a new woman. I feel like a new woman after the great night of sleep and all morning. I plan on an afternoon nap also to try to catch up on some sleep. I know Gizmo and Glory wouldn't mind that. Yeah we still have little Glory and her and Gizmo never did make puppies. I will miss her when she goes back to her family. They are on vacation right now. I teased my daughers boyfriend and told him we were keeping his parents dog. I can see why his mom loves her so much. I think I will send my hubby for some gauze and juat stay in my PJ's all day today and nap on and off. Time for a nap before the itching starts again. Looks like the dogs started with out me. Barb
