Kitt, sorry to hear you were down in the dumps. I've been there a few times. Don't like to stay there long. Too many good things in life despite the bad. Glad you pulled your self out of there and spent some fun time with granddaughter. Nothing like the grandchildren to bring you back to life. I hope you had fun on your vacation with your grand daughter. Have a nice vacation and know we will miss you here and will be waiting until you return. We want to hear all about it. I had an itch free day. Yahoo!

Bill hope you are winning some games and not over doing it too much.

Janice, thanks for the tip on the colon health stuff. I have problems at times with that and it is not fun. I'll look for that. Just what I needed another supplement. At least mine are all working for me though. My heart and stent is pristine according to my heart doc and I think all thanks to the stuff I take and healthy eating. I hope you start to feel better soon.

I am glad you have gotten your self up and going again. That is a rough road my friend. I have had some bouts of it myself and feel I am headed that way again. Anyhow, enjoy your trip on the 25th and we will be waiting for your return.

hope the hand heals quickly now.

We won our first game this morning 6-2. We play again tomorrow morning and one additional game tomorrow night. If we win tomorrow morning we take 1st in the pool, but if we loose we take 2nd. Good start either way, but a 1st gets us a 4:45pm game and a 2nd gets us an 8:15pm game. I want the 4:45 game!

Me, I don't know. I keep reading about Barrett's and the dysplasia stuff and guess it's all a bit scary. I have a very well dug hole in the sand where my head fits just perfectly. :-)

Bill..........  Whoooo hooooooo way to go.  Congrats on the win and I do hope you win this morning.  It is raining here so hope it is not where you are. 

Barb.............  I am so glad your cardio report is good and I know you are going to continue on doing better and better. Yup, those grandchildren are sure a blessing and I am looking forward to spending time away with just Amy, myself tucked into the Hilton in Branson, MO.  I have show tickets for us and also planning on riding the duck boats. Our son has a condo down there but they won't be there when we are.  They were down early this summer.  This will be my first visit to Branson.

I hear the shopping is great :)

Denise,  Thank you as always for covering the new posts and for all your support.  This is the best forum on the boards to find all the warmth, caring and support a person could hope for.

PAlady,  You always put a smile on my face, thank you for your kind words too. You may have your head in the sand but I think it is perhaps from fear not because you are hiding.  I see you peeking.

Barrett's is scary stuff but I know you are going to be OK.  I am always here for you.

We won our pool and now have to play at 4:45pm today. Much better than 8:15pm.
Janice, hope the headache has went away. I get them once in awhile that hang around for a few days and it is tough to handle.

Kitt, I agree with PAlady that you are an awesome moderator. You have a great time with your grand daughter. It sounds like a lot of fun. I hear Branson is really neat. Shop some for me. yeah I can't wait to see my grandkids. My boss had a change of vacation plans so I get to leave on September 1st instead of the 4th to head out there. Yahoo that made a great start to the week.

Bill, congrats on the win. I am on itch free day number two. Yahoo! My hand and leg hurt but I'll take that over and itch like that any day. turn

Barb - glad the itching has stopped and that your hand is feeling a little better. One day at a time, and it will improve. In a few short months you probably won't even know you had the surgery! :-)

I'm kind of hanging in there. To tell you the truth, I just don't know what I should be expecting. This is all so new to me. I'm pretty sure I have to find a way to raise the bed a little, but I know that's going to be a challenge to decide just how to do it - wedges or raising the front of the whole bed. Living alone and with all my back and pain issues, I have to find someone to do it for me. Believe it or not that's easier said than done. But I can feel the acid taste in my mouth and throat in the morning. Course I still feel it off and on during the day. I am eating healthier than I have in a long time, but still trying to figure out which foods may be affecting it. I do miss my orange juice and citrus fruits!

Ok, enough whining! rolleyes

Hi all-
Well they won another one. 9 to 2 this time. We get a break and don't have to play until 1:15pm Wed. If we win that game we don't play until Thursday morning. The first team we played Monday is at this hotel also and we talked with them some tonight. They are a second year 14u team and 3 games today themselves to stay in the winners bracket. Our sister team lost to the team we beat tonight just before we played them. We do have one with an injury, but we only have 9 and she is playing with all heart right now. She made a diving catch at 2nd base and hurt her back throwing from the ground to get the out. We do have a reserve player heading here from our 12u team, but she has to wait until they loose one more game and then drive about 9 hours from Tennessee. Her team only had 9 players also and they lost one to an ankle injury today and now have to play with only 8. Anyway that is the softball update.

Barb, I am pleased to hear you seem to have the itching licked. Now if the pains would just stop.

PaLady, This disease is a pain in the rear, but can be managed. It may just take some time though. Keep positive and hopefully someone gives you a hand with the bed.

PAlady even when I had my bed on bricks and used wedges under my pillows I struck out.I would wake up with the sour taste.Even now after my surgery I still have a sour taste???? But no choking,no regurgitating. no nothing

Bea sorry to hear your tummy is acting up. Maybe watch what you eat for a while. You might need to take a med for it. Hope you had a nice vacation.

PAlady, yes this is not a fun desease to deal with. Each person is different too in what works for them. I got some cheap risers from Walmart. Those didn't work as well as my wedge does.

Bill, I found out the heat makes it itch again so yahoo I get to be outside the next 2 days all day for out brat fry. You can guess what I'll be doing. ripping every thing off to itch it! nono   Yeah I know I shouldn't do it but it can't be helped as you know how that is. Good luck with the rest of your games. Barb

Good Morning to the Greatest GERDEEs and GERDETTES in the whole world.

Well for some dang reason I had a bout of reflux last night...........I hate waking up suddenly choking.  Guess I will have to watch my evening snack closer or I could just skip it.  Now where is the fun in that?

Glad to see you all are doing fairly well.  I am going to be packing and organizing more today.  Getting ready for vacation is hard work.

I will try to catch up more later on today.

Barb, I know we shouldn't scratch it, but you have my blessings if it makes you feel better! I was always is trouble for scratching.

Well now for the softball update. We are done. Unfortunately we played one bad inning yesterday and blew a 4 run lead and the ladies got of to a slow start this morning and lost 4-3. So we are done for this season. It was very disheartening losing out so early and to 2 teams we have done so well against in the past. I could blame the ump for a few horrible calls this morning to stop our momentum in a couple innings that we probably would have scored in, but I won't stoop that low. Us as coaches have placed it squarely on our shoulders for letting the girls relax too much and not being 100% on their game.
This team had a real shot at this championship and I am very sad to see them end with disappointment. I know there is always next year, but sometimes you have a team that deserves better and this one did.
We will be starting our 2nd year at 14u in about 2 weeks. We have a couple ladies moving on and will have to fill their shoes. We should be playing about 3 or 4 tournaments this fall and we will see how we stack up.

Maybe I shouldn't be so happy to be a member of the club? I like the people, but the disease I could do without. Anyway to change this? shakehead sad

Bill - it's too bad about the early loss. But it's such a learning experience - not what the girls will think of now, but I grew up when girls weren't allowed to compete in such things, and there were certainly no funds devoted to girls' sports (before Title IX) and one of the things girls never got to learn was how to lose and get back up and play again. I was a cheerleader and my disappointments were always vicarious! I can't believe you turn around and start the next season in just 2 weeks!

Barb - hope that hand is getting better and better each day!

Kitt - - get off on that vacation! And have a great time!

I've been busy every minute working on the house, so haven't had any time to get online. Sorry to hear that your girls didn't make it far in the championship series. I hope things go well in the fall season. It's great that your daughter has you to coach and guide her in softball!

How is your stomach feeling? Are you handling work okay?

Bill, I know I'd be in trouble if there were doctors or nurses around for scratching. You can't help but scratch when it itches that bad. It wasn't too bad today. I tried to stay in the shade and that seemed to help as my brace is black and attracts the sun. My little Gizmo was so funny tonight trying to get comfy and go to sleep on top of my arm with the brace. He looked up at me an sighed like it was my fault he couldn't get comfortable. He finally gave up and jumped to the bed. He missed me since I was gone so long today. Our daughter came while we were gone today and took Glory to go back to Illinois so we didn't even get to say good bye to her. I am going to miss her. I got rather attached to her after that long. Oh well we'll get our Abby back. Sorry about the girls loss.

Kitt, I'm hanging in there. Good luck with your packing.

PAlady, this is not a club you want to be a part of. tongue But at least the people are really wonderful. At least the hand isn't itching much. A little pain, more in my other poor hand from taking on the burden of being the only one used. sad Oh well not for long. Barb

The stomach has been pretty good. Some ups and downs. I have only been to work 2 days. The doctor took me out for a few days with my ribs and I have been on vacation all this week. I'll see how it goes Sunday night. The injections for my ribs have already started to wear off. Guess I'll have to get a second round soon.
PaLady- We pretty much play or practice all year round. We have tryouts August 4rd and 5th to replace anyone leaving. Only 2 this year. Then we start practice for a couple weeks and then fall leagues and tournaments start. We will probably play in 4 tournaments this fall. One will be a PFX (Pro Fastpitch Extreme) tour tournament also. We took 2nd last year in one. That one has 2 Pro fastpitch games to watch and the Pros hang around the diamonds and talk with the girls, sign autographs, and give clinics. It was really great to get to meet most of the Olympic team last year. My daughter has a ball signed by almost all of them. They even come to watch games and sit in the dugout with the teams and ask some of the younger girls to be batgirls for their games.
It really takes alot of time to coach and play at this level, but if it is what she wants to do, I'll follow her where ever she goes. She will be playing high school next spring, so I will have to go watch her H/S games and coach the travel team until she gets back to this team in the summer.

Good Morning To All in Gerdsville,

Well Bill, I am so sorry to read of the loss but what a great team you have and what wonderful team spirit they have shown.  I know when you have your heart set on the gold it is so hard to come up empty and then to have to feel happy for the winners...............that is real sportsmanship.  I always cry a bit when I lose and then I move on to the next chance.  I know you all did the very best you could. 

Sorry to hear your ribs are gving you problems again.  Try to rest over the weekend before your Sunday night shift.

Denise,  Do try to get a bit of "me" time in while you are working at this fevered pitch. I know you have so much to do but remember to put your health first my friend.  We all need you to be well because we care.

Barb, Yahooooooo is right on.  You get to leave on your vacation early.  That is awesome news.  I am glad the itching has let up some.  If it was not near an area with sutures I would have recommended Tea Tree Oil.  I broke out in a awful itchy rash from a medication a couple of years ago and I tried everything.  My daughter brought over this stuff I had never heard of and danged if it did not work.  I would apply it 2-3 times a day.  Of course it smelled a bit but hey for relief I can put a clothes pin on my nose.  Inow keep this little bottle of oil handy.

Our 6 month old devil dog, King is sick with an eye infection and an ear infection.  He is over at my daughters as she is medicating him to try to get him better as he is entered in a dog show next weekend.  He also has hives.  Poor sweet baby.  He loves his Mommy..........yeee gads.  I thing of a doggie as my baby. 

Bea,  Yup, you are a member of this wonderful club but you have my permission to have silent GERD. I only had the one night of regurge so perhaps it was a fluke.

As for my pinched nerve or whatever is going on in my back, my claim with Work Comp was turned down as I have not been in to see the WC Doc for to long so by saving them money I am now on my own with a work related injury.  OH well, hells bells.  So no PT for me. 

You have my permission to whine or vent anytime you want to here in this great forum where we all have our days. 

Janice,  I know your up at the Lake and I hope your weather cleared up and that you have a peaceful weekend. 

PALady,  With Denise all tied up with her chores perhaps you could help keep an eye on the forum and welcome newbies too while I am gone.  I know the mods from some of the other forums are really busy and the members here are so good about supporting and caring for each other I don't feel the need to ask anyone to cover the forum for me.  :) 

You may see another mod stop in as when one of us is on vacation we will do that on our own if we think of it.

Kitt, sorry to hear about your sick little pup. I hope he gets better real soon. I use a natural oil on stuff that works real well, but like you said wouldn't put it on sutures. Hi all -
We made it home about 12:30 am. We spent the day at Six Flags Great America. Figured the girls needed some relaxing fun. They must have had a good time because they slept all the way home, even through 2 hours of bad thunder storms with high winds.
I finally got the nerve to try steak and it went down well. yeah yeah yeah I think that was my last hurdle before I called this one a success.
I did hurt my ribs pretty good while trying to enjoy roller coasters with the girls. I didn't let them know so they wouldn't feel bad. They wanted me to ride with them, so I did. I sure love coasters, but now I will have to call the doctor Monday morning and go see him again. He probably won't be happy, but I don't like to let the girls down.
Anyhow, Sorry to hear the pup is sick Kitt. Hope he makes a quick recovery. Enjoy the vacation!

Bea, hope the stomach is better. You too Denise. Really watch out for that lettuce, it can tear up us wrapped ones. I only eat it in very small amounts anymore.

Barb- I hope that hand gets to feeling better quickly too. I do understand not wanting to take the pain meds, but sometimes we need to for a while anyhow. Hang in there, I am sure it will get better soon.

PaLady- hoping things are getting better for you. You have had to deal with so much in a short time.

Janice, Hopefully you are getting in as much relaxation as you possibly can.

Teala and Annie, haven't heard too much from you lately. I pray all is well.

I am off to bed. I have been going on 2 hours sleep and have been up since 6 am yesterday, I am pooped!

Wow! You must be pooped. You're so good to the girls. Sorry to hear that your ride on the roller coaster caused you problems. Your doc will be saying "duh!". Hope you got some good sleep.

I didn't know how bad lettuce is for a wrap. I'd never heard that before. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. I've had lots of trouble since then. When my wrap gets irritated, I really feel that I can get some reflux. I think it gets a bit swollen, and it's loose enough to allow a bit to escape. I'm just guessing here, but it seems to only follow irritation episodes, when my wrap is uncomfortable. I sure hope it's not an indication that I caused damage with my coughing post-surgery. I really coughed A LOT and HARD. Oh well, it is as it is. I'll be hoping for the best!
