Good Morning Everyone,

Bill, thanks for the welcome back and I see you have been a busy guy.  Good for you. I hope you made it into work last night and that you are letting your body tell you how much you can or cannot do. Wehn you get past the post-roller coaster pain and are ready to try again, do come to MN and visit Valley Fair. They have a roller coaster that fetures a 105 foot drop...Holy Moley......I will be glad to stand by and take your picture.  LOL

Bea, Hope you are doing ok and got your paper work all filled out. I know what a pain it is to do all the paper work and with my luck I usually forget to dot an i and they return it to me............   ):  The Grands are truly grand.  Today we leave for dog show and take our furry son, King.  ( Our Doberman )

Barb, Congrats and I bet you can hardly stand it until you leave on your vacation to see those grandchildren.  Also glad to read you have tendon issues that can be treated.  I hope you are soon back in the swimming pool..................yeeeee haaaaaaaa.  You go Ms Phelps.

PAlady, Good monring my friend.  I had a great time with my granddaughter on vacation and now 2 of them will be with us at the dog show............just have to keep them from slugging it out.........that is sisters for you.  LOL.  18 and 16 they are with a love/hate relationship right now.  But they are both good girls.

Hoping you have recovered from the root canal.  Argh!

Janice, I cannot believe what a brave and tough lady you are...............on the boards last night, the day after your surgery and encouraging everyone else as usual.  Do not ever worry about your  typing on this site.  I often go back in weeks later when I see some typo or snafu I posted. 

Yes the grandkids are so fun and I am off to zip up my suitcase.  I will be in Wisconsin this week end but back on Sunday.  So I will not be online Saturday only.

Denise,  Wow, you covered everything so well and all I can say is thank you.  With all the packing and everything you still came here and kept everything going, welcoming newbies etc.  You are the Lady.

Hope the packing and moving is all going on schedule.

Hello, friends,
Just checking in briefly. Obviously something did not go right with the root canal. Finally reached my dentist by phone at 6pm last night to request an antibiotic as I look and feel like I've been punched in the jaw. The pain is waking me up - far and away overshadowing any other pain I have. But I can't take pain meds round the clock, although I feel I need them. For CP patients, you don't walk in and get more pain meds. Besides this is infection related. I only pray the antibiotic fixes it, but I don't trust this dentist or the work he has done. There's a much longer thread on the CP forum. Thanks for reading it, Bill!

Of course fun thing - the antibiotic he gives me (I have several allergies so I'm limited in choices, and we already tried one) has as the main side effects GI issues! And the drug fact sheet says if you have "heartburn" to make sure to call your doctor ASAP! How wonderful! Plus this has to be taken every 6 hours (4 pills/day) with food. Now I'm trying to work this around the nexium and not eating 3 hrs. before bedtime. After 10 days of this I will be certifiable! I just hope it works.

Janice - you are amazing back posting so quickly!

Bill, Kitt, Denise, Barb, Bea and eveyone - well wishes and hugs to each of you. Now I'm back to another cuddle session with the ice pack!

Hi every one, this year seems to be all about the waiting. Waiting to ride my bike, swim, see the grandkids and have my other surgery, waiting for my hand to get better and stronger. Oh well it teaches me patiences I guess. I am just glad every thing is looking up. I am off to the movies to see G-force and the proposal. Our friend Troy is thinking of meeting us. He has been getting out alot and doing stuff which is good for him so he doesn't dwell on his loss too much. The band last night was awesome. Hard to believe they are just a local band. Hi everyone. Root canal failure,,,,oooochy! that is no fun and I am so sorry that you're going through this. I have problems with antibiotics and have started adding probiotics into my everyday life. Now that I have to be on one for the surgery, I called my pharmacy and asked if it was okay to take a probiotic while taking an antibiotic (there are times when I am so dumb, even I can't believe it, but there you go!!) Anyway, he told me that it was the best time to take the probiotic, you need it to counteract the GI issues; this may help you with what you have to take now, I certainly hope so!

Barb, how are you doing? I'm glad you're getting out and I'm glad that Troy has decided to join you! I wish I could have been there too! I would not, never, not in a million years, EVER, go on a roller coaster though...sorry Bill! We've always gone to Cedar Point, and my husband and sons and everyone else just loves the RC. I am terrified of falling...not heights mind you, but falling. I don't care if it's from 2 feet or 200 feet..terrified! Going backwards in the dentist chair..uhuh..can't do it...going backwards on the xray table during the barium swallow?, may as well stab me in the heart...can't do it!! so Roller Coasters...nooooooooooo!!!

Denise, how's the staging going? I'm still very curious to see how you like your house when it's done up and ready to go and just as interested in the traffic pattern on your house once the sign is up. You did say that you would come to Michigan and clean my basement...right???? I agree with Kitt, and owe you a thanks as well; you have kept everyone up and running; I've been part-time at best, and I really appreciate you holding everything up with your knowledge, caring and advice...we have such a great group of people here and it never ceases to amaze me how one steps back another steps up!

I missed something about Bea, what is the paper work for? Just being nosy now!!!

I have to tell you, I've received and orchid plant from my daughter in law today; the note said that our oldest grand daughter picked it out. I called our DIL (she at her M&D's for a little while..our son just shipped out to Afghanistan for his 4th tour), anyway, I called Jessica and was going to talk to our Gdaughter, but she was pouting (which she does a lot!). When Jessica's mothers asked her if she wanted to talk to Grandma, the youngest, Anna, heard that and came running yelling "ahma", ahma! (she's just learning to talk), but it looks like my name is now officially...Ahma...I'll take it :)

Hi all -
Wow, y'all have been busy here. I didn't make it to work last night. After feeling great most of the day it came back in full force that evening.
I called my doctor and he said he wanted to do another nerve block. He is only in his clinic from 3 to 5pm on Fridays, but he made time for me. As usual I now have additional pain from the injections, but that should be gone in a day or 2. He wanted to take me out of work all next week also. I talked him out of it though, need money for some weird reason.

Janice- It's great to hear you are doing well. I second that you shouldn't worry about whether or not your posts are perfect. I know I have had my share of head spinning posts devil .

PaLady - Sorry you are having so many issues with your tooth. That pain had got to be horrible. I had dry sockets when they removed my wisdom teeth and nothing would help with that pain.

Bea, did you ask your doctor about an anti nausea med yet?

Denise - Hopefully your are about done with the house prepping.

Kitt - Have a good time in Wisconsin.

Bill sorry your ribs are bad again. Just when you think a pain is better or gone it pops up again. Happpens to me all the time.

Janice, Troy never made it to the out door. Oh well the hubby and me still had a good time and both movies were really funny. I'm doing pretty good. Still ticked my incision came open. It hurts some times when I move my hand the wrong way I'll get a sharp pain there. It sounds like between shots, surgery and PT my doctors are going to have me fixed up in no time. What branch of service is your son in? Sorry to hear he is going back over there again. My son has only been there once to Iraq. I can't imagine 4x. I'll keep him in my prayers. How old are your grandchildren. Mine are almost 5 almost 2 and then the little guy hasn't arrived yet.

PAlady, sorry to hear about your mouth pain. Mine was so bad before I got my mouth guard that the dentist thought I was going to need a root canal, but after xrays nothing showed nothing. He couldn't believe that I had that much pain from grinding my teeth but it went away after the mouth was being used every night. I can't imagine what a real root canal feels like. I hope you get some relief soon. I know how bad an antibiotic can mess up the stomach as mine is very sensitive. Make sure you take the probiotic though that should help some. Good night every one. I can relate to your incision opening up. That happened to me when the took the staples out of the front incision after my lung surgery. It is in a spot that gets pulled alot when I reach up or out. They put steri strips on it and by the time they fell off it was healed. Hopefully things healed quickly now. Good to hear you had a good time at the movies.
This is gonna be a long night. I tried to sleep earlier, but when I lay down it hurts my ribs. I tried taking an Ambien and that didn't work either. I have been taking pain meds on a regular schedule tha last week and the itching has started. I guess it's not just morphine that gets me. Oh well, I will have to go get some benedryll tomorrow or today which ever it is.

Bill, how about lidoderm patches? have you tried those? They help take the edge of a lot of pain for me, maybe they'll help you sleep.

Fortunately, my husband understands this and I wonder if you feel the same thing....I am so sick and tired of Dr.'s and hospitals, tests, and pills, procedures and pain. The beauty of this forum and our friendship is that we can vent about these things without someone saying/thinking..oh, (your name here) is sick...again...

When the BC came up I found that I got so angry about being sick again; that, my friends, has been my personal struggle.

Bill, PALady, Barb, we all share in your pain and frustration and I hope that I can start being here more often for all of you!!!

Bill thanks for the encouragement that is good to know. My incision is right in a crease in the palm of my hand. I was so excited to get the stitches out and move on that this was just a let down. They told me in about a week it would heal shut when the strips fall off. Is that how long yours took? I can't believe you have the itch again. I shudder at the thought of it. shocked I found out that I am not allergic to betadine but it was chloraprep they had used on me. Hope you find some relief and sleep soon  my friend.

Janice, I can't believe all you have been through. It is very discoraging when your trying to deal with one or more health problems all ready and then your hit with another one. I get really angry at first too when they tell me another problem I have to deal with my health. It seems like the doctors, illness and pills take over your life at times. It is hard for others to understand and every one here is so great to talk to about these things. So any time you need us we are here for you girl. :-) Barb

Janice-

 My doctor had me try lidocaine gel, but that didn't do anything except make the skin numb. He wanted me to try that and see if it helped before trying the patches. I do understand your feelings about all the doctors, hospitals, and tests. I am so glad your husband understands this. Michelle does also, but than again she has had her share of the doctors, hospitals and tests too. With all the work I have missed the last year or so I get tired of the comments there. Some people can be real pains. My doctor wanted to take me out of work all this next week also. Maybe I should have let him. I normally would have started my week tonight, but he wanted me to stay out atleast until tomorrow night. He thinks I am not giving the injections time to work fully before I lift things. He told me flat out not to do anything strenuous this weekend.

 Now to top it off, I started getting sharp pains on the right side of my stomach again. Similar to when I had the holes leaking. Michelle said if it doesn't stop by tomorrow she is calling the surgeon and let him know. I don't want to take another trip to Chicago.

Barb, I think mine stayed on for about 8 days or so. It sounds llike your donesn't want to hang on very long. Could be the area they are also. I would think the flexing of your hand would make them loosen up faster. Mine was on my ribs.

 I was itching in my sleep again today. I finally found a comfortable position and slept about an hour when I woke up scratching. I was sleeping in the recliner and my daughter was laughing at me because I was sleep itching. She said I was doing it for about 10 minutes. Teenagers!

Kitt, Glad you are back. You will have a lot of reading to do.

Sorry I haven't been around here as much lately. Hopefully these injections last longer and I can stand to type more often.

Bill, "With all the work I have missed the last year or so I get tired of the comments there. Some people can be real pains." Oh isn't that the truth! and that is the beauty of our forum, because no matter how many times we gripe about feeling bad, our we come up with another thing that is wrong, or pain, or tests or what not..no one here says "now what" or (your name here) is sick again! This is exactly why I told so few people about the breast cancer, I didn't want that type of thing going on.

Bill, you are among friends here and we'll never get tired of listening to you or anyone else and you will NEVER hear us say..now what!! You may hear Joy talk about raisins from the dogs ear! but that's another story entirely :)

Sorry I haven't been able to get on much. We're at crunch time. Our open house will be on Sunday. It goes in the listing today, and we actually had someone look at it last night. Hopefully it'll sell quickly, so we can move forward with our townhouse. Of course we don't have any idea where we'll live once we sell, but oh well...one thing at a time.

Barb, sorry to hear about your incision. I'm very slow healing, so I'm always afraid that they'll open something up when they take out stitches. The lap procedure was closed with steri strips. If they start peeling off, I was told you could snip the edges. I think if the edges are tight to your skin they'll stay on longer. Mine stayed on forever, it seemed. My family doc finally took them off. (I was told to leave them on until they fell off!)

Bill, listen to your doctor's advice and stay home as long as he suggests. I have trouble with that, too. I always feel so guilty about leaving my classroom, that I want to get right back in. If you go slow, you go fast. Do what you have to do to take care of yourself, and you'll have a better chance of getting it back to normal. Be good to yourself! You'll miss the money, but you'll probably have more in the end. Rather than rushing it, just to be set back with another problem, if you give yourself a chance to heal, hopefully you'll stay better!

Janice, I definitely understand your feelings about having another health challenge. It gets old, doesn't it. And nobody wants to hear about it, so this forum is a great place to talk about it. You need to be able to talk about your feelings, your recovery, your setbacks. We're all good with that! You're with friends, and fellow travelers, here! How lucky you are to have grandchildren. I'm still waiting. My daugher the plastics PA, and it has taken her some time to establish her career. She's one of those people who aren't happy unless she's super busy. She works full time and does per diem urgent care as well. She's also involved with the national PA organization, breast cancer support/research organizations, you name it, she's involved. She's amazing. We're looking forward to little ones, though. My other son isn't married yet, so it's okay if he waits a while! tongue

PALady, sorry you're having so many problems with your root canal. Hope you get it resolved really soon!

Kitt, hope you had/are having fun on your vacation get away!

Hi Bea!

Got to run, because I've got a room full of school boxes (plans, supplies, books, materials) that need to be gone through and put into the garage. We were told to clear out our utility room, so we're doing that. Whatever they say! We've still got to wash windows and do touch ups. We have a few cracked panes to get fixed as well.
Never ends! My son is coming down to hopefully finish up the landscaping today through Wednesday. He's making a new flagstone patio--the other one has had it--plus he stole stones from it for the work he did in front. Wish us luck!

I've got to run. My boxes are calling!

Well it is Monday morning and not always my best time........ rolleyes However when I come here and connect with all of you, I always feel better.

PAlady,  Ouch and I am so sorry your root canal went bad.  I do hope the antibiotics have kicked in and you are starting to feel better.  I have had 3 root canals and so far all have done well.  I know the last thing you needed was more pain.  Pain can really rule your day on a bad day so I hope yours let's up quickly. (((((((((Hugs))))))))))

Barb, I always smile when I see you have been to the movies as we are huge movie fans but belong to Netflix so we watch a lot of videos.  On vacation in Branson my Amy ( G.D.) and I watched a paid for view movie every night before bedtime.

I hope your incision closes up nicely now.  On the palm of your hand is a tough spot to have an open wound.

Janice,  I understand the anger well as I too will burst into tears and tell my hubby I spend way to much time at the Doctors and to much money on meds, and co pays ............argh.  I only have to see the Psychiatist once a month now which helps a lot.  Hard to plan life around your Doctor's appointments.

Wow, your son is going to Afghanistan for the 4th tour.  That must be hard for everyone but I feel, we, as a nation are so very blessed to have such wonderful people in our military fighting for our great country.

As soon as I am finished here this morning I will be emailing you. Keep on feeling better each day.

Denise, To our mover and shaker, I too am waiting to hear how you like the new home.  When do you start back to work?  We start back on September 8th.  I am not sure how much work I will get this year but hopefully enough.  :)

To Benadryl Bill,  LOL.  I swear that stock in Benadryl is on the rise thanks to you and your itchies.  I am truly sorry you are continuing to have the rib pain and the nerve block injections do not cover it.  I also understand why you need to get back to work.  It does make a person frustrated when you are hoping to see the light at the end of the tunnel and something else pops up to keep you from reaching the end.  But please do know we are all here and we are cheering for you to get past all of this discomfort and pain.

To Bea, and Teala and everyone here in the forum..........I wish you a wonderful week and please do pop in and let us know how you are in your own threads or here in this thread.

Hi all-
Well today is the softball team tryout. We only need one more player, but I feel we will have a lot of girls trying out. Sure is hard to give them the news they haven't made the team. We were hoping our 12u coach would jump to first year 14u because he only has 3 returning players and we think he would be able to field a very good first year 14u team from our tryouts. I don't think he is willing to move up a year early though.

Denise- I was going around our house and thinking what I would have to do if we sold this place. I think I would be better off to blow it up and start over. I can't believe how much stuff we have gained over the years. I still remember when we didn't have any furniture or appliances. We keep saying we are going to throw stuff out, but never do. I bet I could fill a couple dumpsters and still not be done.

Janice- SO glad the lymph nodes are clear Now get to doing some serious healing!

PaLady- Hope the tooth is responding to the meds better today. I don't think I could handle keeping the schedule you are for your meds. I would have to cheat somewhere. Actually I do.

Barb- Be careful with that hand today.

Kitt- I also think you probably should unwind a bit. I always seem to need a vacation after a vacation.

Bea- I am sure you are over doing something somewhere devil . Hope all is well!

Hey Bill, I'm like you with a house full of too much stuff. We keep saying we are going to get rid of stuff but never quite get around to it. It would be better for my asthma in the long run. I have new steri strips on my hand. You can read about that adventure in the carpel tunnel thread. It's not just teenagers it's kids in general. My almost 23 year old daughter thought it was funny to take me out for lunch and shoping after having surgery. They wouldn't think it was so funny if it was them. I can't believe you have that awful itching again. I feel sooooooooooooo sorry for you. I'm praying you have an itch free night so you can get some sleep.  

Kitt, so glad you had so much fun with your granddaughter. I can hardly wait to see mine and her 2 little brothers. I'm going to have fun spoiling them along with my sweet little daughter in law and my son. I can't wait to go swimming either according to the 2 doctors this Friday is the day.

Janice, I know how hard it is to deal with people at work. My boss is very nasty about it. I dread when I have to tell her about my next appointment. Unless you've gone through what we have here you don't understand. Even my poor husband trys too but it is hard for him too. Well I have to get to bed as I slept terrible last night for some reason.

Hey Bea, Bill, Kitt, PALady, Janice, Barb (and anyone else I've missed--apologies--I'm tired!)

Once again I'm at it...fixing broken windows, painting, cleaning. I'm about to make a curtain for the garage window. Wish me luck. I've made curtains before, but I'm far from a pro. I'm making the kind with a pocket at the top and at the bottom. We'll see...I'll let you know how they turn out.

Wish I could chat more, but there's so much to do. We're getting closer. Can't wait 'till all we have to do is keep it clean! My son is down working on the new flagstone patio, fixing steps, making a new walk, edging and mulching...The one thing about putting a house on the market this time of the year, rather than spring--everything looks great with leaves, flowers, green lawn, etc.

Off I go...just wanted to let you all know I'm thinking of you. I've popped on a couple of times to try to help a new member. Try to do my part! You all did it for me when I needed you!

Hi every one, hope you all had a great day. 2 more days until I get to swim. I can't wait. I was frustrated today when I called my surgeons office and couldn't get in touch with any one there. You can read about that in the other thread. I saw my PT guy tonight and he thinks I need to get in to see my massage therapist to loosen up my lower back. My chiropractor couldn't move it either so guess that is the next step. I am soooo sick of having appointments before and after work. Oh well just have to deal with it. I'm the type of person that likes to go right home after work and see my dogs and chill out so that's why it's so annoying to me to have to run so much. Hope you all have a good night. Barb

Hi all-
Well, tryouts didn't turn up anyone we needed, but we do have another tomorrow evening. Most of the ones trying out were 1st year 14u players. Since we are a 2nd year team now we really want to only pick up someone who is also a 2nd year player. Since we only have one spot left we aren't rushing into anything because right now we have enough to play fall ball.
As you can also see I am not at work either. Not sure why, but the rib issue is getting worse. The pain has started following my ribs all the way around again. My doctor and I had talked about whether or not the Neurontin was still working. I have a feeling it isn't anymore. I really need to get back to work, but don't dare when I have to take these meds regularly. Too many sharp and dangerous pieces of equipment to take the chance.

Hi Bill,
I know it's hard to wait to get to work, but your job makes it impossible! Your health is the most important thing, and rib pain is terrible--similar to back pain. I had a time when I pulled something, and couldn't sleep laying down...had to sleep in a recliner. I know the pain is tough to take every day. I hope they can locate the place where the pain is coming from. Good luck, Bill! We're all here for you...your cheerleading squad stands at the ready... yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Denise,  I get all worn out just reading your posts and now your making curtains.  So much talent.  I am sure your house will look beautiful and buyers will be all over it when your ready to list it for sale.  Do not worry about being busy with your house and all.  You do so much for this forum all the time and you are truly a rock here in the forum.  yeah

Barb,  Only 2 days but who is counting.  Do you go swimming at the YMCA ? 

Bill, I am glad your holding out for a new team member that will compliment the rest of the team and as you have time you are wise to wait until the right fit comes along.

I am so sorry to hear your rib pain is not getting any better.  I do understand how frustrating that is for you.  I hope your physician can come up with something soon that will work for the pain.

Hi Kitt,
As always, thanks for your kind words of encouragement! Your daughter and I are BOTH crazy busy, I guess! LOL Guess it's the influence of my young adult children...it just seems to put into words just how I'm feeling! We are making progress, and things are looking great. My son is a real blessing. He's been here since Monday putting the finishing touches on the landscaping and rebuilding of patios. He's very ambitions, and does a great job.

Things are coming along. I've got some extra cleaning to do...Jack is washing windows (Isn't that nice? He does windows!), then we've got to do the painting retouches, and we're ready for our Sunday open house. After that it's just keeping things clean all the time (easier with just the two of us in the house) and getting into closets, cupboards, and drawers to sort and make some more trips to the Salvation Army!

Wish us luck for selling the house quickly. Then we'll have the money available to move forward with our townhouse minus a contingency.

I go back to school on September 1st, which is really early for us. Another little wrinkle is that the school is undergoing renovation and we're not going to be able to get in to set up. they don't know when it'll be available for us. That won't be easy, since I've got a wedding in Ottawa, Canada over Labor Day weekend. It'll be a nice little get-away!

Kitt, I won't be going for a swim this week uless there is a miracle. My wound split open half way down. I felt it when it split and I almost started crying I am so mad. I go at the Golds Gym I belong too. I am calling my regular doc first thing in the morning and ask if I can put liquid bandage in there or super glue or something. I want the dang thing shut for good. That was the topping on my day of back pain. Well at least my boss was decent today and I avoided lifting anything with that hand. So that's one little triumph. I also got a hold of my massage therapist and she can get me in next Tuesday and I changed my chiropractor to Wednesday so maybe he can get my lower back in place after she loosens it up. It's all so frustrating.

I can sure sympathize with Bill and every one else.

Denise, wow I can't believe how busy you are. What an accomplishment to be proud of. Well I will be joining you in the house cleaning, sorting and getting rid of stuff because I just found out that the day we return from north Carolina my uncle will arrive from the Philippines with his new wife and I would die if they saw my house right now so guess what I'll be doing the rest of this month before I leave for my trip? yeah

Bill, you poor guy I can't believe all you are going through. One thing after another. Man I sure do know what that is like and then to top it off worrying about getting back to work. I hope the itching has gotten better. I can't imagine that on top of the pain. That reminds me I need to go take a pain pill as last night my hand started throbbing after I had already taken the carafate so I had to wait a few hours. That did not make for a good nights sleep. Take care and get better. I'm cheering for you too. yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Hi Barb,
Good luck getting ready for your uncle. Just remember that he's coming to see YOU, not your house. After surgery, and all the things you've been through, don't kill yourself cleaning. We wouldn't do it it we didn't have to. We need to get as much a possible for our house, so we can have it to buy the townhouse. It's a little nerve-wracking, waiting to see if the house sells. Once you make the decision to move forward, you just want to get it sold. It would make things less complicated. Of course, then we'll need to find a place to live. I work 5 minutes from our house, and our new townhouse is a little over an hour from my work. Big difference! Oh well, things will work out. First things first!
