Question for people with breathing - asthma problems associated with gerd....
Specifically, the people who had surgey or treatment and your breathing problem improved....
My question is how did they associate your breathing problems with the gerd? what test? did you ever use a pocket peak flow meter when you were having trouble breathing? what did it read? low?
here my problem
I am young. 25. I have a major breathing issue- asthma like. The only thing I have been diagnosed with is GERD and a 5 cm sliding hitial hernia. And also redness in my throat, constantly couging up mucus. My brething sucks, its been a year like this now. I dotn hypervenolate, but just have constant breathing problems, like breathing out of a straw.
I used to smoke but quit. I have had allergy test... no allergies.
Ct scan of lungs w contrast.... clean, nomral
chest x ray normal
Pulmonary function tests all normal 100%
no response to asthma medications really, maybe a little, but nor enough
eks's normal
2 echo's of my heart, normal, good heart, no hypertension
If the gerd is really causing asthma or my breathing problems, why the heck arent they showing up on PFT's?
If gerd is casuing asthma, why is the asmtha medication not working?
If gerd is causing asthma, then why do I blow off the scale on my peak flow meter even when I have my breathing episodes?
I dont want to go get gerd surgery if its not going to help my breathing, thats what I am saying.....
So, my question is how did your docs connect the gerd to the breathing problems.... what tests... I have posted before and never got a gd answer. There has to be one. They wouoldnt just give you the surgery...
