OUCH! I hate those injections. I get them 5 at a time in my ribs. In fact I am due for them today if I ever get out of this dang hospital. I pray the injection works and things are better for your trip. You have got to be getting really excited now!

Hi Barb,
I hope the injections help you a lot, and your hand feels better soon.

Hope the injections make you feel better. I get them in my knee and they hurt but it was not as bad as I was expecting it to. Possibly because I had friends who the shot before and I was ready for the pain or possibly because my knee was in so much pain a bit more pain did not matter. I can't imagine how much it must hurt to have that same type of shot in the small bones of the hand or foot. Or in a sensative area like the ribs. OOOOOOOOO! OUCH! I feel for you! I hate shots, but to have them there, yeech! Pinch your earlobes and maybe it will distract you from the pain.

Oh Bill you made my eyes water. One was enough to about knock me off the chair. It did seem to help so I was able to do more today but at the end of the day I opened a door and I had that pain shoot through again up my wrist. I maybe over did it. It better have been worth it for all that pain. I can't imagine that many shots and then not having it work for long or not at all.

PAlady yes it was cortizone by my incision to lessen the pain the doc said all my pain I'm still having was coming from that. At least I can rest my hand on the rest for my computer with out pain and it did seem to help when I do other things. I did notice I no longer have the pain in those first 2 fingers but the thumb is still quite sore. I will have to try the visualization thing. I never watch I think it hurts more that way. My back is kicking up again tonight. I debated on taking pain pill but opted for just the muscle relaxor. My pain doctor told me that he would rather see me take a drug that is not an opiate like the vicadin is. He said he wasn't worried about me getting adicted because I don't take that much but down the road if I need it for pain control like after surgery or an accident (heaven forbid that's what put me in this mess) then they won't work as well. He mentioned something like Tramadone or something like that and he said it does not cause stomach upset. I think I may have taken it back in 2006 because I had such horrible stomach pain after they had me on a statin for a week that I couldn't sleep or stand it for that matter and that med worked real well for me. Well I need to hit the bed. I hope my back does not keep me up. I saw my massage therapist today and she told me to rub the scar every day with oil and massage it so that it doesn't get all knotted up in there. I see the PT tomorrow for my back and hope he can pop it again and make it feel like it did last week pain free. Night all. Barb

Hmmm things seem to be moving around here again. Guess our ghost is back. The other posts from Kitt, Denise, Joy and Mary didn't pop up until I posted mine.

Denise it did seem to help and I sure hope it lasts at least through my trip. I'm getting really excited about it. So much to do before then.

Kitt, I can't imagine it on a regular basis. I wanted to scream, but didn't think my doc would appreciate it. He teased me after and said so what are you going to tell me next time when I ask if your hand hurts. I told him oh not at all. I love a doc with a sense of humor and good bedside manor and he definitly has it.

Joy I don't think that would have worked. A needle some where else at the same time would have distracted me shocked .

Yuck that's an awful thought. At least the feet weren't as bad. It was actually the outside of my ankle.  

Mary, I do think the hand is the most painful because of all the nerve endings. Not a fun place that's for sure. The tailbone doc I saw after the hand doc did the shot and he asked if it was worse than the shot to the tailbone and I said no they were about as bad. Good night all. Barb

Oh, to me the ones in the hand were definitely the worst! But then they were the only ones that helped! The ones in various parts of my spine did nothing.

The ones in my hands were for trigger fingers. And the first two lasted about 6 months, and the last one maybe a little longer and I was starting to think i would have to get them forever and then after the third one the tendons never tightened up again.

For you, Barb, it may be to help with the scar tissue and inflammation. I sure hope you don't have to get very many (maybe none after this one!).

Barb, I'm sorry, I hope the injection was worth it! They've helped me in the past and I hope they helped you.....here, I'll kiss it and make it feel better!!! (well it always worked for my kids!)

Barb,

Our ghost comes out at night to play with the posts and make us all think we are a bit off balanced.  We may need to appoint a ghost buster, or better yet we could have Bea eat a Peanut Buster Parfait from the DQ.  Whoooooo hooooooooo, wouldn't she love that?  LOL

I hope the injections start to cover all the pain.

My injections are for my DJD in my right thumb and it did hurt as they injected right into the joint and it felt like my thumb blew up like a balloon from the pressure. I have bone on bone now and I need to have hand surgery but am hoping I can wait one more year.

So your back at school.  As a sub I do not know when my first opportunity to work will come. Things are moving faster in your life now.  I believe this coming school year will go by fast for you.  Enjoy this last year and cherish each minute with the kids. The kids are going to miss having you and I know they will always remember you as one of their very favorite teachers.

PAlady it's right up there with the tailbone shot. But does seem to be working. Think I just over did it yesterday. And yes the shot was cortizone to help with the inflamation around the incision. He put it in right below the incision and it bubbled up along it that's why I think it hurt so bad. I sure hope I don't have to have that one done again.

Kitt, I had one in my finger joint that worked for about 2 months. That one was not near as bad as this one was. Makes me cringe to even think of it. I have no doubt Bea could take care of that ghost.

Janice, I hope it was too. So far it seems too be. I just over did it. Yup the kiss must have helped.
