well all went well they gave me good exam told me that i need the surgery nothing can stop the reflux as i have relaxed les that never closes , he also said that i am getting lots reflux and also something else thats not acid . which i get that after eating all the time like mucus gross. he also told me that no ppi would make it better only stop the burn so surgery is the only way for me . i go for my pre opp on 24th sept and he said it will be within 3 months . i dont know how i feel now just want this putting back to normal roll on 3 months then

I am glad you got your answer.  I know the waiting is the hard part.  It is so easy to feel the stress of the waiting but meanwhile you come here and talk to us......ask your questions and remember any question is sure to be answered by someone.

Which surgery are you choosing? Nissen or EsophyX? Good luck.

i have to have the nissen felt a bit low yesterday after the news but a bit positive today .what i cant understand though is he told me ppi will only help the acid and that seems to be under control . but what is it when you wake up in midle night and you need to sit up because your so uncomfortble and the fist like thing in your back confused

That's reflux that ganged up on you at night while you were laying down. Nasty habit it has of doing that. If your surgeon is very experienced with the Nissen and has done many successfully your will do great. Just make sure to find out his track record. Most are excited to show off their skills. I can attest that a well done Nissen is wonderful!

Also, ask him if he does the surgery by laproscopy. And ask if he does a loose wrap. Tell him this is what you want and ask how many he has done this way. He shouldn't laugh. You need answers.

My surgeon was good and told me that he would only offer me a loose wrap and that he was very good at doing them. He offered this without me asking.

So now I look for the surgeon to be very confident.

The reason for the loose wrap is that it cause less swallowing problem. I had none after surgery, followed all instructions to the T. Only ate 1/2 cup at a time for the first 2 weeks and this kept me from having the gas pains in the shoulder that so many people talk about.

Tell the surgeon that you trust him but you need to be reassured that he has done many lapro surgeries and loose wraps.
