I was searching for more information on Barrett's esophagus and ablation and stumbled upon a couple of articles, based on newly published research. It's pretty interesting stuff if, like me, you have Barrett's.

One thing that I've read in a couple of places is that while this procedure may significantly reduce cancer risk, it will not cure the associated GERD.

Not that I know of, but if someone has please share! I think it's relatively new for use with Barrett's. I am more familiar with Radiofrequency's use to treat nerve pain.

These studies look rather promising, especially because there's really been no other option other than surgery, and/or "watchful waiting". I'd prefer not to wait for things to get worse if I can help it!

Griff - do you have Barrett's?

BTW I called one of the GI specialist groups in my area today and they are doing the procedure, but they said before insurance would pay you had to have tried two different ppi's, and have some level of dysplasia.

no i dont but at my current rate ill get it in no time which is why i have to have surgery. did u find ur by scope? Sadly i've been on 7 different ppi's so i woudl qualify. It's been a while since ive been scoped but my doctor told me i would know if i had it by now, so iono... yeah ive read a lot about the procedure seems sucessful, for those in need i would suggest lookin into it!!
