confused  Hi everyone.  I am a 49 year old male who has been suffering from GERD for several years.  Most of the time I have been takinig 20 mg of Nexium, and have gotten relief.  But in the last month I'm having increasing discomfort.  I had been on 40mg of Nexium and Maalox around the clock with no relief.  I went to the doctor and he changed me to Zantac and Carafate.  I'm not sure I'm much better.  I have an appt with a GI doctor next week.  I had an endoscopy in 2005 and there was some scarring on my esophagus and a small hiatal hernia.  I am at a loss of what to do.  I have drastically changed my diet, so I hope this GI doctor can help me.  I think I need another endoscopy.  If anyone has anyone has any advice or comments I welcome them.  It's nice to be a part of this forum.

Hello and welcome to the GERD/Heartburn Forum.  We are so glad you found us and hope you stick with us.  You will find the members are wise and simply wonderful.  They have been through many of the same surgeries, tests and on the same meds as you may be asking about.

Hi, singler. I was on 20 nexium for three years and had to go up to 40mg and zantac.
I'm now facing surgery (EsophyX TIF). I have a HH, but no scaring.

Ask away... we'll answer. :)
