I was also taking Prevacid 60 mg a day, but then my insurance company dropped coverage for it when it became available over the counter. I tried generic Prevacid for a few weeks, but it was terrible (I think because the generic isn't timed release).
So now I'm buying the non-prescription Prevacid 24Hr 15 mg tablets, taking four of them a day, and that is working very well for me. And it's not all that expensive either. Check out amazon.com and you can get a box of 42 capsules pretty cheap. For a month I just need three boxes.
What works best for me is to take two about a half hour before dinner, and then two more at bedtime. This prevents the acid damage after dinner and during the night, and I find I don't need to take anything during the day since I'm sitting upright all day.
