hi im 36 yrs old and am from the UK
about 5 yrs ago, I was diagnosed with IBS and most recently in Sept 09, I started developing thick mucus in back of my throat, constantly having to clear it, then I developed a bad cough which irritated my throat. Then pain in chest started and feeling of breathlessness. I had a very tender throat and always felt there was something stuck, especially at night my sleeping was affected badly.
Docs diagnosed everything from allergies, infection, asthma etc.. Have had antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, nasal sprays, inhalers, steroids etc, nothing has helped.
Then I noticed the acid rising up, and feeling of acid fumes in my throat ...
I looked up symptoms on net, and it came up with GERD.
Went to the docs with this and he agreed, started me on 20mg omeprazole four weeks ago. though 2 weeks ago, noticed symptoms coming back.
So.. having to go back to docs to see any other suggestions, tbh I dont think they are very interested.
Do you think it would be worth my while to ask to be referred to an ENT doc at the hospital?
Ive made changes to my diet, am not particularly overweight, and all the recommendations, still having horrible symptoms.
