Welcome to the GERD /Heartburn forum!
Actually, GERD can cause asthma symptoms as well. I do have asthma, which was made much worse as a result of worsening GERD. I ended up on some serious breathing issues which landed me in the hospital and had me using a nebulizer daily for over a year.
Not that I'm recommending this for you, but my asthma was so terrible that I finally had the surgery. After recovering from pre/post lung infections that were caused by the terrible reflux before surgery, my lungs have been much improved. Unfortunately, I had used so many steroids in an attempt to breathe (LOL), my internal tissue was very fragile. I'm worried that I'll need a redo as a result. I'm going back to my GI to see what he has to say. If I do need a redo, I'll do it gladly...it was wonderful having healthy lungs, and I don't want to get back to that place ever again!
Best wishes finding an answer to your problem. I'm sure other members will be along to offer more ideas.
