Hi Everyone,
I have been researching my daughters symptoms today and found this site. I have been reading all morning long! Very informative site! A lil info about her: she is 15, very active, plays soccer and basketball, straight a's in school, very sociable, was diagnosed with Reflux as baby and threw up every formula we gave her(Dr says, she just has reflux she will grow out of). Pretty much healthly all her life since then, other than a cold here and there. She is 5'10" now and a healthy weight.
The more I read, the more I think she may have GERD. Her symptoms started about 6 months ago. Stomachache was pretty much all we could get out of her. She felt like she was gonna throw up she said, and sometimes it was made better by eating. Sometimes she would look at food and feel sick to her stomach. Slight headache now and then. I said well you sound like you have morning sickness to me, which we new wasn't possible. Pediatrician had us keep food diary to see if anything she ate was affecting her. It didn't really matter what it was, so Dr. thought maybe it was stress/anxiety. She was starting a new soccer team at the time and high school. Once school and the soccer team started rolling she seemed to be getting better. Not much in the complaints column.
Until about 3 weeks ago. Took her to Dr. she had some sinus stuff going on. Headache, sore throat, nausea. Dr. said probably just sinuses draining making throat sore and upsetting stomach. Took Claritin D for a week, not much changed. I have been digging and getting more answers from her. She is only 15. So now we are up to these symtoms: nausea(sometimes lasts all day), girgling/rumbling in her chest(she says it is hard to explain), sore throat, feels like her throat is closing up when running, tummy making noises alot during day, burping more, clears her throat alot, feels like mucus in there, some feeling of stuff coming up in throat, still has stuffy nose and drainage, tired, not getting much sleep. Good days and bad days. It is starting to affect her at school and she feels she is not performing like she should on the field. Then she starts worrying and it seems to get worse.
Do you all think I should lean towards GERD? Should I take her back to pediatrician now that I have more info or should I just take her somewhere else? I really just want her to feel better! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
