yesterday I had had lunch just a soup and salad with some breadsticks. so I did feel the chest discomfort after wards but I decided to go shopping anyways to walk it off. so about 45 min later there I am at a store and all of the sudden out of nowhere I turned my head and everything moved with me just like they show in the movies when someone is about to passout well I got this blood rushing feeling through out my body then my heart started racing I started taking deep breathes and walked out of the store into my car and sat there with the windows open until it passed which it was only about 5 min or less but it really scared me I have had the blood rushing feeling before but never the moving feeling. I have an appointment on tues but just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced this before.

Your symptoms could be serious. I would see a doctor ASAP just to have heart checked and blood sugar. Heart racing is tachycardia, which can be caused by a reflex action from stomach or esophagus spasms or by blood sugar problems. I've had this reaction to low blood sugar and also eating foods to which I have allergies (mainly things containing sulfite).

Re: your other post. Praying can help us cope and relax, which can help our conditions, but I would also see a GI doctor to get the esophagus checked out for Barretts and other possible problems.

thanks! Alcie Love your name by the way. I have an appointment I really dont' think it's my heart I have had an EKG done in the past it was normal, plus I workout and never have any problems with my heart rate well im no dr but i figured that if it was my heart it would do somethign abnormal when working out but I am gonna take your advice and see a cardiologist it wouldn't hurt to get it checked anyways huh. thank you very much for your respond..i agree with the praying comment it just relaxes me when im fixing to have an anxiety attack it helps me fight them off.

Sounds like a panic attack..but I would have it checked out. My wife had one of those while grocery shopping last year... she nearly hit the floor.

I get that from esophagus spasms. It's a weird feeling.

Yeah, name's old Scottish.

I've had lots of EKGs that didn't show anything, even 24 hour monitoring, but it still comes on - mainly from food allergies. It started a heart attack a few years ago. It's called cardio-esophagela reflex.

You can find out if you have food allergies by keeping a food journal and logging your foods and your symptoms an hour and two hours later.

Even if you don't have diabetes, if you didn't have much to eat you can get low blood sugar. I've had those events too.

I didn't mean anything derogatory about the praying. Just that it isn't enough if there's a medical condition. I pray plenty and still see my doctors and try to live a healthylife.

Another thought. I just found out I have a very low vitamin D level - 18. I've felt awful, pain all over 8/10, tired, I took 4000 units yesterday and suddenly felt much better this morning. D level affects the heart and lots of other things. Since it's been winter those of us in the north haven't been getting enough sun to make our own. My sister just found out her level is 8, which is low enough to lead to death if she doesn't get it up.

That should hve been cardio-esophageal reflex.

Vitamin D test is nearly never ordered. It's not part of the Chem-8 panel, should be!

Often when walking up a slight incline or stairs, I get very lighted-headed. I even passed out once last summer. I thought for sure it was something to do with my heart or blood pressure, but tests found nothing. I think it is probably reflux that is affecting my vagus nerve. Has anyone else had these symptoms? Is surgery the right option?

I had the surgury for acid reflux and it works. I get occasional acid reflux but not at all like I did. Yes it is so worth it to get that surgury, if you can find a good dr. who will do it for you.

I used to almost blackout from my HH getting irritated causing my vegus nerve to spasm.

Before I had surgery (probably about 6 years ago) I had just finished dinner at a nice restaurant. I suddenly felt like I couldn't get enough air. I went to the ladies room and back, and still felt badly. I finally felt like I was going to pass out, so I told my husband I needed to get outside and get some air.

I barely got outside, and laid down on the sidewalk. (It was raining...great.) My husband tried to help, but picked up my head, and I went out completely. Someone called an ambulance. My blood pressure was extremely low. It remained low on the way to the hospital. They had me on IV liquids.

I'd just eaten--how could I need fluids? Anyway, the long and short of it--they found nothing at the hospital. After I'd had some time in bed, on IV liquids, my blood pressure stabilized, and they sent me home.

Could the vagus nerve (stimulated by acid) cause blood pressure to plummet? I've never been able to figure out what caused it.
Just wondering...
