nexium twice a day

I know lots of people have taken nexium twice a day, but has anyone found any documentation, that it;s safe to take twicw a day. I f you google it says once a day, PDR says once a day, even manufactures leaflet says once a day. My doc says I could increase to twice a day, but I'm worried

From the information I have read it is not uncommon for physicians to prescribe Nexium twice daily. Nexium for Barrett's esophagus appears to be a twice daily dosage.

If you have concerns re this dose, please do discuss it with your physician and ask for any research that your physician knows of that indicates twice daily dosing is the normal at this time.

I did nexium twice a day plus a 300mg zantac. The only side effect I suffered from is that I developed polyps in my stomach. The surgeon said that it was a normal side effect and not cancerous at the time.

Hi Gerdedout,
According to my GI doc, some people require two, rather than one PPI a day. My dosage was 40mg Protonix twice a day. I don't know how your insurance is, but some people find that when they change PPI's they can find one that works better for them.
