Apparently I misunderstood the doctor who performed my upper endoscopy a few weeks ago as I do not have Barrett's. I went to my primary care physician over ear and throat trouble I've been having and he went over the endoscopy results with me. He said I have esophagitis. Anyway, I have a ton of inflammation and fluid in my ears that my doctor thinks is being caused by a sinus infection. I've been on antibiotics for 4 days and I've been having bouts of chest discomfort and back pain like crazy. It's the same pain I'd been experiencing before but a lot worse. I've heard that antibiotics make reflux worse. Would esophagitis cause back and chest pain? I'm wondering if all these issues don't intertwine somehow as my throat has been irritated for months and I've been having all the other problems. The antibiotics I was given, a Z-pak, wasn't helping so now I've been switched to Cefuroxime which I'll have to take for the next 10 days. I can feel a ton of fluid sloshing around in my ears. I'm currently not taking PPIs as they don't seem to help me but I've got to do something because my chest and back aching haven't been much fun the last few days. I've been prescribed Ursodiol, to see if maybe it was bile reflux since the PPIs haven't helped, it's not doing anything either.
