Hi all, haven't visited and posted in a while. I promised myself that I would come back and post to share occasionally just in case someone was in the the same situation as me.
It is has been about
6 months since I was at my worst with GERD and reflux, though I suffered most of my life. It was so bad I was on the verge of surgery and was taking 2-3 PPI pills a day along with tums and everything else you can imagine. I also had Barretts which I had successfully ablated with RFA in Jan.
I routinely ate dairy- milk, ice cream and yogurt especially. I went on a business trip and didn't for a few days and remarkably the pain went away. I put 2 and 2 together and sure enough it seemed that perhaps dairy was the key. Have since confirmed that I am lactose intolerant--my body cannot digest without severe bloating, gas, pain, and GERD reflux. Since cutting dairy, I no longer take medication for GERD at all- nor do i have any special diet. My GI doctor gave me the all clear from a recent scope.
There are probably more then a few reasons you may want to consider giving up dairy (stomach, sinuses, etc.) but I am posting to suggest to you that you have nothing to lose by trying. Small experiment for a few days that could make all the difference in the world to you! You never know!!
Good Luck to everyone on the board and thanks for the support you provided when I needed it (even if it was just to mostly comiserate!)
