Stopping Nexium

I've been taking Nexium for many years and want to get off it. My pharmacist suggested a "weaning off" process of every other day for 1 1/2 weeks, then every 3 days, every 4 days,etc. I'm now on the every 3 days, experiencing uncomfortable heartburn. Drinking water seems to help for a little while. I'll try the celery and anything else that can help with the withdrawal symptoms.

It's great to see other people are working at this, too. I'm very committed to this.

Any other suggestions for the heartburn? I have to be careful about OTC stuff that could interfere with a beta blocker that I take for a heart valve issue.

When I got off of Nexium it was a long and painful process....but I did take BROMELAIN (pineapple enzyme) and PAPAYA enzymes with every meal, and that seemed to help me a lot. I also altered my diet....a lot. No more pop, no more fried food, no more junk. No refined sugar, very little meat and dairy. Lots of fruits and vegetables and all that good stuff....and plenty of water. That helped probably more than anything.

Good luck! Don't give up! If you've been on Nexium for a long time, be prepared for a long withdrawal. But you'll get there!

Thanks for the info about how you got through the withdrawal process. I'm taking enzymes pill and DGL. Also, taking apple cider vinegar tablets. With the heat that we have here now, no problem drinking the water. Fortunately, bathroom is nearby.

I know it will take time. Having the support here on this forum helps, too.
