ok so I have been trying like mad to suss out some kinda pattern with my throat lumpiness, and its a bit strange.
Voice use has no bearing whatsoever on it. I can have a very heavy voice day and be ok, or not, and have a totally quiet day and feel terrible..or not.
Food does have some impact, spice, fat, chinese food, alcohol, all bad.
The one thing that always makes a difference is hayfever. If I have bad hayfever, or a bad cold, my throat feels fantastic. It is the only time I get any respite. That or if I have a sickness bug and have been vomiting.
Any ideas on why this might be? My speech therapist had no helpful clues.
Also, if I don't have the lump feeling, I still have a very full thick throat and extreme dryness. My throat is exceedingly dry at all times, and I drink more water than anyone I know. At the very least, 2 litres a day, but often much more. If I DO happen to get dehydrated, my throat actually feels better than before.
Does anyone have any clues? My feeling is the mucus creates a barrier somehow, which is why I feel better with a cold. That is all I can come up with.
I so need this to go away! Being strangled all day long is absolutely exhausting, and resorting to not taking hayfever meds or catching a cold for some relief is a little extreme.
