Sinuses and GERD related??

All last summer I thought I had sinus/ear infections and kept going to the doctor to get antibiotics. I always had this strange pain behind my eye as well and the left side of my cheek/face would get swollen. My doctor told me that at night when I sleep the reflux moves up into the esophagus and into the sinuses. I thought it sounded ridiculous but ever since I have been controlling my GERD with medicine and diet the sinus/eye pain and swelling is gone!! Did anyone else experience this? I still have my bad days but the sinus situation is under control.
