janice, I hope your knee feels better soon. Can you wear a support brace on it to help you out?

Denise, be careful of those cortisone shots. I've heard that they can cause joint detioration. My Orthro mentioned doing one in my foot on my next visit if not feeling better. It's about 75% better. Shoulder's 100% better. :)

Skitt, Don't forget to have some me time. All work and no play makes skitt a dull girl. :>

good visit with my reconstruction surgeon today; I see my ortho tomorrow...probably for a cortisone injection...right now, I'm cringing while I'll welcome it!!

No new computer yet. :(
I'm going to buy it Sunday, deliver it on Monday to the tech and hopefully pick it up on Wednesday.
My brother just called today and he's totally broke. He's five days from payday and has to buy gas for two trips to dialysis. I've got to send him part of my computer money. :S That's part of my delay in getting it.

My allergies are giving me fits!!! I've sneezed my head off and coughed and wheezed since 2:00. :P
I'm hoping that the two benadryl I took will calm it all down. I'll probaby sleep the evening away.

Joy; I'm sorry things have gotten so tough for you. Are you all your brother has?, can no one else help out? I know so little about this; but I swear I remember hearing about people being able to get free rides to dialysis; but it probably is dependent on where you live.

Today was my 2 steps back day...didn't sleep well; felt fairly yucchy today, slept on and off most of the day though, but back to not wanting to eat. I did see my ortho; and without an MRI, he can't say 100% that I didn't tear it; but the xrays clearly show a tear drop shape of arthritis; and the location and pain level would indicate that I probably knocked that baby good when I twisted it, thus starting the inflammatory process. He injected it with cortisone and for today, anyway, it feels better. He said it won't be so happy tomorrow.

Anyway...Kitt, I know you get nerved up about Pdoc, but all is well, and your normal is much better than most!, hopefully the med switch will go easily..

My knee feels better, but overall, I think I took more than 1 or 2 steps backward in this recovery; yesterday..seriously, I think I fell asleep 5 maybe 6 times and still slept all night; and I'm back to the queasy feeling. I'm getting rebound headaches from the norco, so I've stopped (yes, just stopped) that, and I'm working between motrin, fioricet and baclofen..hopefully, one more day and I'll start feeling better.

speaking of meds, how are you doing Kitt??

Sorry to hear you had a tough day yesterday.  I really struggle with bad days as I want so much to feel good and productive.  Pdoc appointment went well but I always come away feeling like I have been lectured and reminded that I change my mind on the meds.............guess I am just so afraid that they will have such nasty side effects or they will fail.

What a sweetie you are and finding that site was so kind of you.  It is so good to be able to come here and have friends help you with the challenges of everyday.  ((((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))))

AS for me, got our taxes back from accounting - yup we have to pay in again to Federal and get a whopping $28.00 back from state. 

The fun part, we did order a new car today - will be built at factory.  It is a Chevy Equinox, white and tricked out pretty well.  Hubby wanted a 6 cylinder so bad so that is what we ordered.  Probably won't be here until May. He also like the lime green Camero on the show room but I had to say no no to that. 

Speaking of hubby, he weighed in at 141 lbs last night.  I am telling you it scares me so bad.  I looked at one of his insurance policies from when he was 19 and he weight 180 and was 6.0 ft.  He is still 6.0 ft.

I have a leeway - if he gets lower - 139lbs  I will be raising he$$ with some Drs. somewhere as he is wasting away.  Any suggestions - he eats fairly well but with short bowel syndrome he does not absorb the nutrients.

Thanks for the help guys. My brother has a social worker helping him over there, but they didn't have funds to help him finacially right now. My siblings couldn't help him this time around they're having money issues, too.

Since I'm single and have few debits I'm usually the one he comes, too.
I've helped him many times over the years, some small amounts and some not so small. He's been in dailysis for almost nine years now. No one in our family is healty enough to give him a kidney so he's forced to wait. He's unable to work and has a little girl to support on the disability paychecks. His wife left him over three months ago due to her mental illness problems. He would of had enough money for the month but she called him up the other day and made him take her to the doctor twice. He used the last of his gas money to take her.
I'm still getting my computer today and sending him his money. My paycheck is coming into the bank now.

My allergies are calming down now. I doped myself up on benadryl last night and only woke once with an asthma attack. It's weird how when my allergies are in full bloom I can smell dust. :S

I've been getting concerned over information on the internet that talks about vitamin deficiency (especially B-12) with the use of Proton Pump Inhibitors.

I found this study that made me feel better, since I am a long term PPI user. It concluded that while short term users of PPI's can have B-12 deficiencies, this does not occur with long term users. It focuses on elderly patients, but hey, I'm not that far off! Check out the abstract at the link below:

You're funny! I do plan to ask my doctor for a lab test next time I see him to make sure all is well. As always, your hubby is very lucky to have his own private nurse! No need to travel to get his shots! I hope he's doing better and gaining some weight.

Janice,  I started weaning from Effexor 150 Mg/daily starting on 12/20/2011.

I have gone slowly and yesterday only took 3 granules so today first day of the rest of my life Off of this nasty, crappy, horrible, medication.  I was on it for about a year and it seemed to work for me but gaining 25 pound kicked me back into   depression and I am ashamed to go out being so overweight. My Pdoc has lways maintained that Effexor does not cause Weight Gain and she is right - it causes a hug craving of carbohydrates. 

Joy,  To add insult to injury we went out to lunch yesterday and I decided no main course just cut to the chase and have my favorite bread pudding -  oops it came with ice cream and whipped cream.  I ate every bite and by the time we got back in the car the regurge was riding with me. So add bread pudding to my list of no no foods. By the time I got home I felt sick.

Janice,  My old back injury ( herniated disc) seem to have popped up and now my left leg is weak - cannot get up from squatting so I guess I am off to the Doctors.  I think I have stock in the company.

My body is going to he$$ in a hand basket to steal someone elses quote.
