I just had the TIF procedure done and i have some concerns.

We're you on ppi's before the surgery and if you we're did the doctors take you off them after the surgery,could be rebound from no ppi's.

I was on ppis before and for about a month after during the weaning off phase. I did get some mild rebound on day four but I got through it okay.

You responded to my earlier post and suggested a GA physician's group. 

Just curious, where did you have yours done?  I am not sure my insurance will cover out of state, but I am right on the TN/GA border and there are not very many docs in this area of TN doing the TIF procedure.   The one I found has only done 5 procedures.  Do you know how many your doc did before getting yours done?  And were you happy with him?

I didn't have the TIF. I had a toupet (partial wrap). You can check with the hospital in Rome, GA. There are several good GI doctors over there.
I'm surprise Erlanger in TN doesn't have a good GI surgeon.

Exactly...me, too.  Doc I found is in Cleveland, TN, just 30 mins outside Chatt.  I am meeting with doc on Tuesday.  He is younger and hails from up north so am hopeful he is excited to do this non-invasive version.  I had a great motility test and do have a small hiatal so I hope he deem me a good candidate.  Thanks for your responses.

I am on my third week following the tif procedure.  Everything seems to be healing just fine.  I am curious how soon I can start drinking alcohol.  My doctor said it would be fine after the first week, but I would like to get a few other opinions.  I have an event coming up Saturday and would like to have a few drinks, but curious if this is a good idea.

Welcome to Healing Well.
I would wait a while longer if it was me, being so early in the healing process. I have read somewhere that alcohol can irritate damage to the esophagus. If you really feel you must have a drink I would keep it to a minimum. It also depends on what you are planning on to drink. I would definitely stay away from carbonated drinks or drinking with a straw, causes a lot of air in the stomach that may be hard to get out.

I had a TIF procedure 12-2010, been having a cronic cough after tne procedure and recently started getting hartburn again. The doctor perscribed nexium and it seems to be working. Just had EGD and I again have a hiatla hernia about 2.5cm. One doctor says I should have surgery and another says take the nexium.  What are the long term effects on taking nexium, as I realize that the medication neutralizes the acid but doestn stop it. Looking for recommedations.
