Al,
Hello and welcome to HealingWell. I am sorry to read of your very frighting experience. Did your Dr. per chance mention a Carcinoid Tumor to you at all ?
Every year U.S. physicians diagnose nearly 5,000 cases of carcinoid tumors. Most are in the gastrointestinal tract including the stomach, small intestine, appendix, colon, and rectum. Rarely, carcinoid tumors occur in the lungs or bronchial tubes.
I do not know if Nexium was related to your problems but calling the pharmaceutical company and reporting your problem is one way to start the ball rolling. The company will have to send a letter to your Dr. that prescribed the medication and request all the info re you GI bleed and surgery. I reported a drug that I was taking as I developed skin cancer while taking it. I called the company as it is good to let them know what happened to you while on the medication.
AstraZeneca makes Nexium.
I wish you well,
Kitt
