Dumping Syndrome anyone?

I had my Nissen Fundo done may of last year and everything seems to be fine, but for the past few weeks I have been living in hell. I am 95% sure that the symptoms that I am having is caused by dumping. Sugar and Carbs seems to cause my blood sugar to drop and when that happens I have the following symptoms of dizziness. lightheaded, tiredness and anxiety. Overall I just feel crappy. I went to my family doctor and he ran some test (blood glucose), but he is on vacation for the next couple of weeks so I have to wait until he is back. Does anyone have any experience with Dumping Syndrome and how long does symptoms persist. I have changed my diet to very low complex carbs and little to no sugar. My symptoms have lessen but not to where I feel like the old me. Any suggestion would greatly appreciated.

Dumping Syndrome? Quite a name, huh? You have a good theory re your blood sugar. 

Some people  experience low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), related to excessive levels of insulin delivered to the bloodstream as part of the syndrome. Hypoglycemia is more often related to late signs and symptoms. Insulin influences your tissues to take up the sugar present in your bloodstream.

In dumping syndrome, food and gastric juices from your stomach move to your small intestine in an unregulated, abnormally fast manner. This accelerated process is most often related to changes in your stomach associated with surgery.

Gastrointestinal hormones also are believed to play a role in this rapid dumping process.

Having to wait 2 weeks for you lab results seems excessive.  Is there another physician at the clinic who can at least give you the test results ?

I had my surgery almost 2 years ago. Dumping has never been a consistent problem for me, but I think it started up probably about 6 months after my surgery. I was very worried at first, thinking I'd have it forever. However, after a little more healing, it calmed down a lot.

Now I just get it randomly. I can always tell when it's about to hit--I get very loud noises from my belly. It's funny...I thought it was related to roughage/raw veggie or salad in my stomach/irritating my wrap, because that's when it has happened the most. However, I have had a couple times when, like you, it's all about a cookie or something. Other times I can eat any amount of sweets I like, and I'm all good.

You certainly can have hope that it will calm down soon. I get it maybe once or twice a month. It seems streaky...I might go a month or two without it, then have one or two in one month. When it hits it doesn't last long, though.

I hope yours settles down very soon. I expect it will.
