Slight pain in inner ear

I have not been diagnosed with GERD, however, I get heartburn terribly. Sometimes the pain is so intense, I can feel it in my innter ears...and a little in my throat. And it causes my head to hurt a little...

I do not have a sour taste in my mouth...but I really feel bloated and all around miserable..

Is it normal for pain to occur in my inner ears?

Welcome to Healing Well, Eliza! When I got bad heartburn, I would feel it in my jaw and ear as well. I think it's pretty common. It definitely radiated badly enough to make me wonder if I was having a heart attack!

Have you been to a doctor about your heartburn? There are things that can help avoid them. I remember never going anywhere without Tums and water, to counteract the pain! If you Google "GERD triggers" you can find information that will help you avoid some of those symptoms.

It does hurt in my jaws...and I have often been scared thinking that it was a heart attack. I have been to the doctor and she gave me zantac.. Seems to do ok, but sometimes...its so bad its almost unbearable!

Hi Eliza,
If you continue to have painful heartburn, be sure to tell your doctor. PPI's would work better than Zantac if you can get them.
