Hi Baza,
Welcome to Healing Well! I can only say that I've been on PPI's for many years, and have had annual blood work with my physical with no mention of low platelets.
It's an interesting point, though. I know that it can be a side effect of PPI's but it does probably affect people differently. I've read that platelets can be suppressed to a certain degree without causing problems.
I will definitely ask my doc about
my platelet levels next time I see him. It must be they weren't terrible, or he would have expressed concern. Still, you've piqued my interest. I'm also interested in my B12 levels.
I found some information about
levels at this website:
www.lowplatelets.com/what-does-your-platelet-count-mean.htmlIt is true that all medication has a risk/benefit ratio--you have to weigh the benefits, and your need for the medication. It would be great not to need any meds, wouldn't it?
Hope things straighten around for you soon.
Take care,
Denise
