Yes, it does. I'm sure your doctor sent you home with eating instructions. They vary widely from surgeon to surgeon. As Joy said, your eating will be more challenging for the first couple of weeks.
My surgeon had me on soft foods until I saw him at Day 5, then allowed me to eat anything that could be chewed to a liquid. If yours had you on soft food in the hospital, I doubt he wants you to remain on liquids for an extended period of time. As Joy said, when you have difficulty swallowing soft foods, you can back off and drink liquids for a time.
I bought Carnation Instant Breakfast before I had the surgery, but never had a single glass of it. I went right to soft foods, then foods chewed to a liquid.
