I am new to this but i have read alot of threads over the last month Ihurt so bad in my chest i feel like i am having a heart attack.Iknow it is not my heart had all tests done including left heart cath.I had been on ompreosole for almost 1 month DR just put me on dexilant 60mg taken for just 2 days.My anxiety level is through the roof DR also give me valium I go friday Egr.I am 41 years old and been like this for 4 months not long considering other stories i have read.How does anyone function on a daily basis with this thing they call GERD.I just want to sleep all the time thats the only time i dont hurt.my chest hurts right around the breastbone all day long.I also stay dizzy alot.Anyone else get dizzy i cant imagine having to live like this 6months ago i could do anything now i hate to leave the house. sad     Thanks,Stevet

Dizziness may be a side effect of omeprazole. I also get wound up when my symptoms are bad. Have you had a gastroscopy or is that what you meant for Friday? A month ought to be long enough to heal an ulcer but you may have gastritis causing the pain. Have you looked at dietary changes? It is all very frustrating and stressful, I agree. All I want is to be able to eat normally and for a cup of coffee not to be a sin I have to pay for with acid!
You will get past this first difficult period with your symptoms, but it will take perseverance, pestering of your primary care physician, some tests and some patient experimenting!

I was dizzy before taking ompresole i have endoscopy fri.This is very hard to deal with.Ihave lost 15 pounds in 1 month what i dont understand is why after 40 years bam big problem no lead up to it just bad from the start.I dont know how to be patient so that part is really hard.Good thing I have a very patient and understanding wife.Do you ever get over this or is this for the rest of our life.

The endoscopy will give you a much better idea of the nature of the problem. A lot of your stress right now may be due to the procedure and the uncertainty of not knowing what the symptoms come from. Mine appeared with little warning, went away for 3 years and now won't go. So I am managing on medication and trying natural remedies alongside. Even if you have the GERD indefinitely you should be able to get better symptom relief than you have right now. Hang tight til after the tests, things will get sorted after that.

Thank You for the positive upside hopefully after this test it will ease my mind i guess it is better to have gerd than something with the heart.Once again thank you.

I want to wish you best of luck with your test today.  Anxiety over your problems is normal at this point so know you are OK and you will soon have more info from your GI physician.

back from test dr says slight irritation took some pieces for biopsy says to continue with dexilent so maybe i was so worried that something bad was happening i just let fear take over.maybe it is anxiety. I would like to thank everyone for their positive attitude.I looked at alot of other pages I sure am glad that i signed up with this one. THANK YOU,Steve

So no ulcers or anything serious to the naked eye. Hopefully the biopsy report won't have too much to say either. Hope you're feeling calmer now - I certainly felt better being on "the other side" of the gastroscopy!

no ulcers no nothing just irritation maybe this will calm me down especially if the biopsy comes back negative
