I have been having a dull pain in my right shoulder blade that occasionally extends down my right flank along the ribs and sometimes into my right lower back. It also extends into my right upper arm at times, and very infrequently it goes up my neck some. It is very dull, and seems to be chronic most of the time. I had a HIDA scan done and had a 38% ejection fraction, which is considered by some, "normal on the low end." Nausea isn't a major symptom. I do sometimes have loose stools, but no "real" diarrhea. I don't think food necessarily triggers the pain, but I am uncertain. For instance, last week I ate a cheeseburger and fries and had no complaints. So, my doc doesn't know if it is GB issues, as in poorly functioning GB, or muscle/skeletal problems. He gave me Meloxicam 15mg x1 daily (an NSAID) to see if that helps the pain. I took it for about 10 days, and the pain went away for the most part. A week later it returned. Now I have taken the NSAID for another 3 weeks and the pain has subsided again some, but I feel like it may just be masked.
So, I don't know what is happening.
Any advice. My pain is not severe, just dull and chronic. The NSAIDs seem to be working, and I don't have the typical severe RUQ pain.
I think another HIDA scan would be beneficial. Does anyone know if a HIDA scan can improve or go up? Also, the HIDA I had done, the CCK injection did not bother me in the least. I didnt get any nausea or reproduction of my shoulder pain. I didn't really feel anything at all. Also, they injected the CCK rapidly, in less than 3 minutes. Is is better to inject it slowly, over 30 minutes or so?
Anyone have any answers/ideas/advice.
