Celexa for GERD?

Anyone out there have good luck with Celexa improving their symptoms?  I have a friend who did not respond well to PPIs, her GI put her on Celexa and then weaned her off of it several months later and her GERD went away and has not really returned, although she does have some minor bouts here and there if she gets really careless about food.  I'm just curious if anyone else has tried this route?

Hi, there was a discussion on the forum a while back about the use of SSRI drugs in GERD. A study had shown that they reduced the sensitivity of the oesophagus. It seems that some people have an over sensitivity of the nerves but without much actual reflux (if memory serves). So presumably if you have genuine reflux and then reduce the nerve sensitivity you could do a lot of silent damage! Last time this was discussed I wondered if St John's Wort would help in a similar manner. This alternative approach seems to be aimed at "functional heartburn" where there isn't much actual acid reflux . . . I think!

Well that's only my thoughts . . That if the SSRI drugs work by sort of masking it then it may not be good. On the other hand if they reduce the discomfort but you take ppis at the same time to keep the acid out of the oesophagus, maybe the combination would work to reduce symtpoms?

Wondering where this GI is located...? None of my doc's have mentioned antidepressants so I'd like to talk with someone who's open to it.
