Toupette Fundoplication - 3 days post op

Had my surgery Thursday morning. The first thing I remember from the recovery room was complaining about neck pain and asking for ice. It hasn't helped my recovery that I have had neck problems for years and have two herniated discs in my lower back. Anyway, the first night was not pleasant. They would not let me drink anything, just ice chips which I had to spit back out. I had so much mucous and with a tube down my nose and could not get it up or down. I ended up having numerous breathing treatments to help break up the mucous. This helped so much. On Friday morning they removed the gastric tube, which was a god send. I felt better almost imediately with just a lingering soar throat from the tube. Then I went for a swallow test to check for leaking and was cleared for a clear liquid diet. Funny how I really didn't want it after I got the tube out. I would have paid big bucks for some water the night before:) Most of my pain has been in my neck and back due to previous issues along with the massive amount of air they pump into you. That is finally subsiding a little. I came home yesterday and have not been able to get my prescriptions filled. The surgeon suggested we fill them at the hospital before we left, which was a good idea if it had been open... I can not find a pharmacy that has them in stock or even carries them. I have sustained a day and a half with liquid tylenol, liquid advil and ice. I guess I really don't have to have the scrips, but they sure would be a nice safety valve. I really haven't eaten or drank too much at this point. Until mid morning this morning it was a chore to even get down a few ounces of liquid. It would take hours. It has gotten much better throughout the day. I was able to take two small walks outside which was nice. I have been sleeping a lot. For a while it was sleep 2 hours, up 2 hours. I have now narrowed this to sleep an hour, up 4 hours:) All in all, beside the rough first night, I think I am progressing pretty well:)
