Sushi without wasabi...?

I love Sushi and have not had any since my diagnosis.  I'm going out tonight and I'm going to try it (a little afraid).  Anyone else out there like sushi? I know we are all different with regards to triggers but anyone had bad luck/good luck?  I'm going to stick with the cooked and non-spicy rolls.

I love sushi and it doesn't bother me at all. The only problem I have with it is when I don't chew it very well and swallow large gulps of it - that does seem to trigger it. I would definitely lay off the wasabi, that's a great idea.

I love the raw rolls and have been eating them with no problems. I have also eaten tekka don (raw maguro sushi in a bed of rice) with no problems. I have heard that soy sauce is acidic but it has never given me problems, and I seriously drown my rice in it.

Thanks, Ashley! I love all sushi and sashimi and I've been missing it so much! I hope I have luck with it, as you do :o)

I was concerned about the raw because my stomach pH is low due to high dose PPI.  But, who knows? I think I'm gonna live on the edge tonight.

Good luck,

I am probably late by now but Soy sauce triggers me bad, so I avoid it all the time. When I order shrimp tempura I ask with no soy sauce...
This could be another allergen like your Naturopath said. This one is really hard to avoid...

Anyways, I hope your Sushi was good.

I love, love, love sushi too & am looking forward to being able to eat it again once I get off this soft & mushy food train.

Before my surgery I had to stop eating it because it got too difficult to swallow.

Oh I am a big sushi fanatic! My last meal before the Nissen next week is sushi dinner :) Definitely stay clear of the wasabi, but ginger is a digestive aid and sometimes has a little kick to it. Worth tearing off a little piece and putting it on a roll. I will be missing my sushi rolls, for sure. Hope everyone here finds an alternative means of curbing the craving!

Thanks, Everyone. The sushi experiment went so-so. I did get some symptoms from it but not that bad. I only ate 6 small pieces. So, I feel like I can eat it every once and a while, better than never that's for sure!
