Hi Matbike,
Welcome to Healing Well! I've never taken Baclofen, but I've had the symptoms you've described taking antibiotics and NSAIDS that ripped up my stomach. I'm extremely careful now, what I take. I can usually tell in a couple doses how my stomach is handling things, but there have been times that I didn't find out until it was way too late.
The thing is, a med that irritates can create gastritis, which flares up acid. If you've got any relaxation in your LES, the acid migrates into the esophagus and creates esophagitis. Both of these things can also flare up asthma. I was even hospitalized for a week when my gastritis wasn't calming down and my asthma was out of control. Even a nebulizer treatment wasn't working.
See if you can get a script for Carafate Suspension. It coats your esophagus and throat and protects it from the acid. (It was developed to help the healing of ulcers.)
Are you on any PPI's? If not, you need to either get a script from your doctor, or at least buy some over the counter versions (like Prilosec). You need to stop the acid. Have you seen your PCP since this started? Backing off the Baclofen is a good start, but you're going to need some help in getting this calmed down.
Also, you'll need to be patient. It will take time for the damage done by the acid to heal. Be sure to communicate the pain and breathing problems you're experiencing.
My asthma was the reason I finally resorted to the Nissen Fundoplication surgery. The amount of reflux I was having wasn't that bad. However, it doesn't take much reflux to create problems for someone who is susceptible to asthma symptoms.
Glad you've joined us! I hope you feel better soon.
Take care,
Denise
