biopsies for Barret's trustworthy?

I had my biopsy at a large university medical hospital in the US, so it must be one of the more trustworthy ones...and I had an irregular z line and hiatal hernia but the biopsy found no Barrets. My question is: Are biopsies often mistaken, or incorrect? As if I didn't have enough to worry about, I am a bit neurotic this morning that somehow the biopsy may have been confused, misplaced with another one, or badly interpreted. I really wish they would take 2 at once just to be sure...

My biopsy was indicating Barretts. I have allergies so I asked if it could actually be eosinophilic infiltration instead. It was reviewed by 2 pathologists and they confirmed the first report - Barretts.

The slides from your biopsy will still be stored in the lab, so you could ask for it to be reviewed, or you could ask for a copy of the pathologist's report so you can see if they are saying "looks like" or "clear signs of".

I was deeply unhappy that mine was not allergic but I felt reassured after the cons said it was very small and the rate of transformation to Ca is also very small.

Like you, I'd rather it wasn't there but worrying won't help. We could have other little abnormalities in our body and just never know about them!!

the worry is possibly as carcinogenic as many genetic and chemical risks we face

the protocol is for the GI doc to take multiple samples along the irregular z line, i believe around three samples for biopsy is common

mistakes are rare but possible...remember these GI docs are pros and do many procedures day. after day,,..mistakes are not impossible but very rare

there are reports of barretts esophagus being reversible with proper care... diet PPIs, and-or surgery etc) so i would concentrate my emotional energy on pretending barretts was found and doing what ever one reasonably can do to move in a healthy direction

i worry a lot too, way too much, i mean a-lot way-too-much :)
