the Xth cranial nerve as you all know, is involved in all manner of gastro intestinal activity and in part even winds its way down our darned esophagus
what are the chances that irritation and or mis firing of some of these nerve bundles affects the rest of the Xth cranial nerve, aka the vagus nerve...ah ha!.... the chances are darned good
the vagus nerve plays a major role in the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system...fight or flight (fear-agression) and then how our bodies attempt to recover from this battle station ready physiological state
so it is small wonder that anxiety an stress promote gerd and gerd with all lots attendant pain and worry causes anxiety
and then the excited vagus nerve of course can effect balance, heart rate, breathing, blood pressure
making matters worse, many of us try not to gorge ourselves on water etc during a meal cause that increased stomach distention and therefor reflux
but what happens next is we risk becoming dehydrated...which...yep you guessed it, aggravates the vagus nerve potentiated problems related to all of the above
dont believe it?
