I had an Upper Endoscopy yesterday. The doctor performed an Espohageal Dilation, but did not take any biopsies. He said I had a narrow esophagus.
I have stomach pain in the upper/middle/belly button area. I also have nausea and burping. Could these symptoms be from the narrow esophagus and the dilation of the esophagus? The GI doctor would not answer me and told me to see my primary care physician. My primary care physician does not have appointments until mid- sept. The GI doctor did not tell me what caused the narrowing or offer follow-up care. I also still can't eat or drink without feeling sick. I've lost alot of weight.
I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder that showed either a sludge or polyp but my doctors refuse to order a HIDA scan.
How long it takes to recover from the dialation?
I am frustrated because the doctors will not treat me. I think it is because I have no insurance.
Thank you.

im wondering ifthe lack of biopsies was due to the test being an "upper" edoscopy
i hear frequently of biopsies taken at or near the z-line (down hear th lowert esophageal sphincter) but have neve hear of routine biopsies near the top
just the same i agree with y9u..id want to know more
i would push
im a cash patient myself...insurance hasnt paid a dime of my procedures in the last year and ive spent a bundle
that should put us in a stronger position to my way of thinking...cash should talk...its right now and up front
a week or two ago you said that your doc dissuaded you from an endoscopy becacuse of lack of insurance
that sems unprofessional to my way of thinking...if i understand you right
my suggestion, beg borrow or steal, endoscopy and the biopsy that traditionally goes along with it...very informative
in regards to the pain you indicate...yes pain...it can mean so many things and sometimes, few things, and sometimes psychosomatic things... the GI tract has a mind of its own...i just dont know how to relate pain to the underlying problem any more, cause i live with so much pain one would think i should be dead by now...
im NOT THE ONE to make sense of what pain may indicate, cause my judgement is really messed up on this account
i just keep on keep on "keepin-it-on"

I also started to have pain in my chest area. Could that be from the upper endoscopy and esophagus dilation?
Thanks.
